My son will turn 27 next week, same age as Neiron. Way too young to go. Terrible story.

RIP. What a story, guy has a congenital illness and despite that makes it to and actually plays in the NFL and then he's gone a few years later, related to the illness. The should make a movie.

This is sad news.

Life ain't easy, and as my Granny always said, "growing old ain't for sissies". Unfortunately, we will all die someday. For the most blessed of us, life will be a marathon. Hopefully we can look back upon the race in our twilight years, and proudly say that we ran as hard and as long as God allowed; and hopefully He will say to us that we lived a life worth living.

What sucks is when a child never gets that chance to reach their full potential, or when someone drops out of the race in what was supposed to be the prime of their life. Neiron Ball had the courage to strive to live life to the fullest, when many others would have given up. He was a brave man, and a proud Gator, worthy of admiration and remembrance.

RIP

this is really sad news... Hope the team does something even if it is something small.. I know some will say who cares tons of Gators die, but at age of 27 its just really sad news.. Maybe a helmet decal even.... its a small gesture for a guy that I think he even played all four years and graduated.

Not too much to say that hasn't been said. We can hate Muschamp all day, but kudos to him for all he did for Neiron. I am sure a football coach in Columbia needed some alone time this afternoon. Neiron was an inspiration and in many ways, the perfect guy to wear #11.

Here are some of the best comments on Neiron from his time in Gainesville, indeed he was not some meh person we treat as a saint because he's gone, but was always a class act who we remember as he truly was.

Rest easy valiant warrior.

Very tragic. My heart and prayers go out to his parents and family. I'm sure they're a wreck.

I never have words for times like this but, my granddaughter was just born in the last few minutes of September 10, 2019 and my first thoughts were of Neiron and his fight ending in the first few hours of this same day. I will never forget the fight he had or the love he had of all things in his life including the game we love so much but means so little in times like this.
My heart goes out to his family especially his two young children, who will hear many stories of how great their father was none of which can fill the void his passing has created in their lives.
