I met a quality control/player personnel guy on his staff this summer when I was in Vegas. The guy played WR for him at Oregon. I said something about having a rough start last year and the guy was very confident that they'd be better/good this year and were heading in the right direction. I didn't want to argue w/ the guy or be a d*ck, but I was just thinking 'no way'.

He’s 3-11 at UCLA. That is abysmal any which way you slice it. He can’t use the excuse that it’s year 1 anymore.

I thank the Lord he turned us down.

Can you imagine that after Chump and Butters MacShark?

Nope. We may as well have just merged with Knoxville at that point and decide on a mutually acceptable mascot. Because that's what we would've become. As I've said before, we absolutely could not afford to get it wrong again, so I had serious reservations about him here. And yet, we almost did. As much as I've been pleased with the Mullen hire, I'm not sure Stricklin didn't just fall into it. That's the scary part.

Nobody gives a shyt about UCLA football so why panic. They probably don’t even know it’s football season out in la la land.

As someone who went to grad school at USC, and has lived a large portion of his life in LA, I will be the first to testify that most Fucla students have never watched a single down of football in their life. Chip Kelly could be fired tomorrow, and that campus wouldn't even notice.

I was one of those who was foolish enough to hope that Kelly was going to come to Gainesville, and thought he would do well. I am thankful that I was wrong, and that I did not get what I wished for. When he chose Fucla, I was surprised because it is not a football school with any hopes or expectations to compete at a high level. Now, I realize that is exactly why Kelly chose to go there. It was a safe place for his fat ass to go and disappear, and make a ton of money. He is a crook.

I am now convinced that Chip Kelly and Sharkf*cker are the biggest grifters that college football has ever seen, with Willie and Charlie Cheeseburger following close behind.

I wanted Kelly here in a big way. I can’t believe how bad it turned out for them and good for us. I wasn’t super excited by Dan but knowing we almost were UCLA makes me much more appreciative of where we are.

Here's the list of CFB head coach 'grifters' (in no particular order):

- WT: duped 4 D1 college football programs
- Lane Kiffin: duped the NFL, Tenn, USC, and now FAU
- Will Muschamp: duped 2 SEC programs
- Butters: duped Nick Saban (they won in spite of him and with excessive talent), CSU, UF, and CMU
- Weis: duped ND, UF, Kansas (among others)

Some honorable mentions: Charlie Strong (3 jobs, only the Louisville gig was a success), Derek Dooley (2 HC jobs), Gary Anderson (at Oregon State), Ron Zook?

Thank you for reminding me about Kiffen. I don't know how in the hell I forgot about him. He has been a sh!tstain everywhere he has ever been. He definitely deserves to be at or near the top of the heap. The reason I put Kelly and Sharkf*cker at the top in a class of their own, is that they have contributed literally nothing, yet are being paid incredibly well for their gross incompetence and ineptitude. They are the laziest coaches I have ever seen, and I sincerely do not believe either of them care if they win or lose.

Probably figures there's no reason to panic because you only need to go 8-8 to get in the playoffs. If they don't, they'll just hire new personnel and give it another go next year. Stuck in the mediocrity of the NFL.

I wonder if he dodged UF's offer due to the killer championship expectations? Figured no one would give a crap at UCLA as he phoned it in hoping it works. If it doesn't, well ****, I still got paid. No fan death threats.
I would say there is no doubt about it. We would have easily paid him double what he is making at UCLA so it was already very suspicious when he took the UCLA job. Then when he seemingly made no effort to recruit or to hire elite recruiters the writing was on the wall that he was simply going through the motions of being a head coach. He's always been a strange guy but this is definitely his strangest chapter.

I wouldn't put Chimp in that group. He sucks, like the rest of them, but I think he actually tried and didn't fail because he was lazy ... he failed because he was/is a moron.

I think Kelly is in a class all his own. Butters is lazy, but he's also not capable. He could work his tail off and possibly get a team to be average. Kelly was very close to winning a title and competed for a few others. He's a shell of his former self and clearly just mailing it in. I laughed at the story @Gator Fever posted where it noted, "Kelly's not hitting the panic button." Of course he's not. UCLA is still solvent and the checks have been deposited right on time. Dude is laughing all the way to the bank.

I am no fan of Muschamp, and realized we were doomed pretty early in his tenure. It was obvious that he was in way over his head.

With that said, I would not put him in the same camp as Butters. For all his faults and failures, Muschamp at least tried, and wanted to win. I don't think Sharkf*cker or Chip Kelly give a damn about winning. Muschamp just didn't have the ability to make it happen. He lacked the brains, composure, experience, and stature to win at a place like UF. But I honestly don't believe that he lacked effort. He recruited well, for the most part (though arguably subpar on signing Offensive players), and did a pretty good job of cleaning up the mess after Urban's last year when he spent most of it on thorazine. Though he missed the mark on many decisions, he tried. However, this ain't politics. Intentions only go so far. We are the Gators, and the scoreboard is what matters most. He just was not up to the task.

Now, don't get me wrong... I was ecstatic to see him go. I blame Foley for the most part, because Muschamp should have been fired, and never given an extension. I thought South Carolina was nuts to hire him, however, their expectations are pretty low, and I think his record there so far is about as good as he can do.

Which is why he should be fired for cause, escorted off campus and given a kick on his fat ass for good measure. Then UCLA should sue him to try and recoup his salary. He’s a thief.
