We lost this game in the trenches last year. We gave up over 300 yards rushing, mustered only 128, gave up a couple of sacks and didn’t get any. Each team got 3 TFL. Oh, and Franks turned it over twice while we recovered one fumble.

Their OL is the first legit one we’ve faced. They don’t have Snell or Wilson, lost 3 of 4 WRs and Josh Allen and no one thinks they’ve come close to replacing any of them. They’ve got (all) 4 new starters in the secondary. They actually out-punted us last year and I still think that FG was good. We should win special teams.

Stoops is a good defensive coach so they’ll be prepared, but if we can hang onto the ball we should be able to score 30+ on them. To win this game, we need new Franks, not old Franks, and to have cleaned up our gaps and tackling. Hang onto the ball, contain Bowden.

If it shapes up like the Miami game, the road will be rough. It won’t.

UF 31-17.

Can we tire them out - those heavies can't have enduring stamina?
Misdirection plays might work well against. Think what a boost of confidence our guys can get.

The reality is we should kill them. If we exchanged rosters, there’s not a person here who thinks we would beat them - especially with a back up QB in his first start.
If you look at their last few recruiting classes, they signed a bunch of guys I suspect we never even offered - and I’m talking about guys from the state of Florida.
Will we kill them, is, of course, a different question. We shall see, but based on talent alone.....
Like others, I’m thinking a low score affair where we are on the edge of our seats until the clock reads all zeros.

He has done a good job developing talent and they seem to maximize the blue chippers they do get. I think their overall talent in the trenches on both sides might be just a little better than ours.

I call it 31-13 UF - with plenty of room for improvement, but still a solid SEC win on the road,

Want sure wrap-up tackling.
Continue dub-digit sacks.
No fumbles, no INTs.
Franks runs keep drives going.
RBs slashing through & through.
Few penalties. (Drive killers)
Frustrate UK by showing them exactly who is back.

If we get the something going, we should run tempo. Those 300 lb + defensive linemen can be worn out if you keep them moving.

UK football practice report (9/10)

-- Landon Young, who won Co-SEC offensive lineman of the week, said he doesn’t pay attention to Florida’s defensive stats. The Gators have 15 sacks through two games, including 10 sacks against Miami.

“I just gotta go out there and do what I know what to do,” Young said. “I don’t think about stats. I just look at personnel and practice what I see, go out there and do the best I can. I don’t care about how many sacks, how many tackles they got. I’m gonna do what I’m gonna do. Those stats are going to be different against me.”

I guess he doesn't like the talk from the Louisville transfer....

Yep that appears to be right and its other positions they get the few they get. He has done a good job with what he has on the lines (3 stars mostly) as I think combined shown talent in the trenches is about equal between us looking at it. We have an edge at DE and they have an edge on the O line probably.

Mullen failing to enact revenge on KY would be a disaster, can't beat them then you have to think Auburn, LSU, uga and Mizzy are also losses, that's 5, that's a freaking bad season.

Echoes of last year when Donk assured us of 0-8 SEC after the Kentucky loss.

Sure if we lose Saturday it could go south fast.....or not. Gotta play them out.

Let’s say they have some more talent on the OL, the we do. OK. Is there any other position group where they have more talent? You made a great point about their DL. Our DL should far and away be the best line that OL has seen. Far better than what they see in practice. For some reason, I’m feeling better and better about this game. Am I crazy?

I like the uniform combo, too. I know a lot of people like the all white uniforms on the road, but I do not. Seems like we wore this combo back in the HBC’s day quite a bit and did all right with it.
