ACC stupidity: tonight’s UNC vs Wake game is a non conference game

Winner of the SEC is going to be in the playoffs. SoS is meaningless.
Everything is cyclical. Everyone assumed Michigan deserved another shot at OSU because they were both BIG 10 powers. Little did they know that Michigan would be murdered by USC (with Cali 5*s, oddly enough. Talking about overcoming the odds!) and OSU didn’t deserve to be on the same field as UF. Guess what I’m saying is... LSU won’t be up forever and neither will the SEC’s perceived dominance.

I think this may be the first post of yours I’ve ever read where you didn’t hate something. Everything ok? First we lost law, can’t go losing another resident pessimist.
You need to check out @FireFoley ’s stuff in the finance forum. Lots of positivity and some damn good insight.

When conferences were 12 teams everyone played everyone else within 4 years, now that we know the silly "super conference" dreams are dead, it's time to start trimming the weak, obviously Missouri should be kicked out along one of the Tennessee and one of the Mississippi schools, make the 12th team someone else like Oklahoma.

wtf? Never heard anything like this but because of expansion, wake and UNC, who dont play regularly, scheduled a home and Home, which in turn is not in league play so a loss or win will not count towards the conference standings.

What a bizarre scheduling loop hole

Actually this has a long history in the ACC and is part of what made the ACC a basketball powerhouse. For many year Duke, Wake, UNC and NCSU would play what was call the Big Four Tournament in basketball. These games were at the start of the season and were not conference games.

Big Four Tournament - Wikipedia

It help build up interest in baskeball in NC though it had long been a basketball area. Norm Sloan was quoted in newspapers at the time as thinking about trying to put together a Big Four in Florida to build up interest.

Now Maybe Wake and UNC playing each other out of conference in football will not help build up interest in football. But more UNC fans will get to see their team at Wake and Wake will get another highly attended game so in a lot of ways this makes sense for both schoools.

I guarantee the SEC champ will make the playoffs every year until hell freezes over.

All kidding aside, Something must be done about the biased approach to conference scheduling.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that Florida can go 10 years without playing Auburn.
It’s absolutely unfair that Florida plays LSU every year while others get teams like Arkansas.

I think Florida should schedule a home and home with Arkansas or Ole Miss to try and forge change
Who cares about fair? To be the best and attract the best talent you have to play the best. Was a time our schedule was often top three in the nation and we still kept it rolling.

You guys are missing the point. This is exactly what should be done with Bama UT, with the elimination of fixed cross division "rivals" games altogether. To hell with Alabama. Only, I'd be nice enough to count the extra conference games for any teams that want to schedule them, as a tiebreaker.
