I am no coach.

But from what I've seen of Trask...mostly O&B...I've always thought he has a quicker release and seems to read the Defense better.

Those of you who know this stuff...am I wrong?

Trask definitely gets the play off to the first read faster. Hopefully to the correct guy. Time will tell us if he is better or not. I hope he is and the offense changes away from sideways...

Agree with Paul Drake on his take on the win, Trask, and Mullen's call to ice the game. Another win without a lot of style points. Without the injury to Franks I don't believe we see Trask. Mullen believes that his QB needs to be the team leader and judging from what we hear from the team Felipe was. I am not sure we win the game with Franks but I suspect that win or lose, he still would have been the starter against UT. The last thing Mullen wanted to do was bench his leader for poor performance. That would risk drama and division. The injury forced the decision and now may galvanize and focus the team around Trask and well as Felipe. Trask does bring a new opportunity to change the offense. It also gives the coaching staff the ability create new ways to open up the field, and get the ball to our playmakers. I have confidence in Mullen and staff to come up with a plan to keep winning.
But for all I know by the UGA game we may be running Jones and the Army flex bone.
Hang on to your butts.

Well his competition has been against AIR since 8th grade so this makes sense.

Remember when we were aghast at UF signing a h.s. career bench-boy? Trask's coach stressed that had they not had the best running QB in Texas, that he would be winning using pocket passer Trask. Trask got into "mop-up duty" and shred some pretty tight coverage on film - you know, you see the DB right there, yet Trask gets it into the WR.... time and time again.

Trask came to UF with ridicule on his back and a 6'6" oughta-start Franks seen always "as the franchise". Trask has not been fully developed by Mullen or Johnson, not like Franks has. So give him a bit of acceptance. He beat a team better than many of our future opponents. Okay, now Trask has the reigns; let's see his giddyap creates buzzy giddy yap 'bout our new Gator QB. Let's watch how he faces up to UT. Precision is precision. Quick-think is too swift to defend. Teammates' more catches march more TD drives. More catches make more happy receivers.

Franks seemed to overlook TEs ? Will Trask utilize TEs more effectively. Will TEs catch on. Will "Trask-tempo" improve the running game?
UT at home seems the best moment in time for Trask to start. Anyway, we'll have lots to write about. And Most Anyway Trask is an untried & trued Florida Gator. ... Gators are his dream-job. We may just have best Gator-spirited student-athlete in a long time. I hope this Cinderfella story rocks Gainesville as well as the sports nation.

Note how we've got even more elevated interest in this game. Old Coryell had the cardiac kids, we got that from a differendered angle.

That's a concern, because he's thrown a couple very errant passes in the two games he's played - luckily they weren't picked. He played a hell of a game Saturday night, and I'm sure (or I hope) Mullen will design an O that works for him (less running?). I doubt he'll be the turnover machine that Franks is at times though, so that's a positive.

(1) So the Trask equation that needs its unknown solved x = leads team as effectively as with Franks or leads team more effectively than games 1 & 2.?
(2) If Trask bogs down, then we still have EJ Jones, who has looked pretty stable on the field.
It's going to be: who performs best while he is learning and who learns the faster. Go Gators.

*The secondary was poor overall, not tackling very well nor covering consistently. Marco Wilson got toasted tonight, but there were others who didn't shine either. The fact that we are small doesn't help against the longer, bigger receivers. The interceptions were good and the last one critical, but this bunch has got to get better and more consistent quickly. When we get neutralized up front, lack of experience and skill gets easily exposed. I think Elam is off to a good start, however. I'm sure there's more, but it's hard to see on a night like tonight when a second string guy lights you up a bit.

Great take Cover2. Unfortunately we continue to look like MatadorU rather than DBU. Those guys need to step it up quickly.

I was rewatching the game and if finally dawned on me that Malik Davis did not take one snap. Anyone know whether he was injured, in CDM's dog house, or he just didn't have the confidence of the coaching staff?

Speaking of injured, the guys on Gators breakdown podcast said that Burney was out hurt.

Did I miss something?

Davis was actually in for one posession on 3 plays with about 5:40 left in the 3rd. Franks threw a screen pass to Davis which would have resulted in a loss of yards had he caught it.
