Trask should only be allowed to run out of bounds. And only after the sideline has been cleared of stray cups, clipboards whatever. In fact they should keep the kicking net on the sidelines just in case. Other than that I'll be happy with any game he throws less than 3 interceptions.
law has returned, you can stop the charade

He played great but proof is if their kicker doesn’t miss a chip shot...we lose. We need all units to step up.

Nonsense. We missed a shorter kick earlier in the game. Stop with the nonsense. Furthermore, rewatch and look at his 3 extra points ... they were garbage kicks.

And you don't know what happens if he makes that kick.

I'm not sure how many people have missed this. His mechanics and fundamentals were abysmal for a guy who has been in the program for three years.

I hope he succeeds but his lollipopping the ball against soft zone won't work against better teams.

Same thing was said about Johnny Manziel. He was pretty good in college. That Mahomes guy in the NFL is pretty good too.

Sometimes you just have to make a play. There isn't a perfect pocket every time. The ability to improvise on the move is priceless.

Everyone is talking about a soft zone? Really? What is the difference between a soft zone and a tight zone? It is either man or zone and can split if you run man to one side and zone the other.

We will see more of what KY ran against us the rest of the year. And will probably see it with better athletes. My guess is we see a lot more zone because I am not sure even Bama has a secondary that can man up against the 4 wides we can put out there with our 2 deep receiver corps.

Soft zone. They weren't playing cover 4 quarters. Bama's and Clemson's cover 2 and cover 3 zones has windows in it where you throw the ball. Knowing where they are and when to throw it. It has to be on time, something Trask does quite well.

He does need to work on his mechanics though. Hopefully they focus on that some this week.

And if our kicker didn't miss one prior to that? Or if we converted one or both two point conversions?

You could do that all day.

Football is most often a game of luck and talent combined, sometimes the ball bounces your way, sometimes it doesn't.

Soft zone is not letting anything behind you when you're up two scores because that is exactly how UK played the fourth quarter.

Comparing two phenomenal college QBs against Trask is insane man. Trask literally is not even a quarter of what made those two quarterbacks good. I want him to succeed but if you cant tell he has some obvious flaws that are going to bite us, I dont know what to tell you.

I'm not usually too picky about footwork and mechanics of CFB QB's but when I rewatched to 4th quarter it was very obvious. There were at least 3 passes that should have been intercepted. Maybe it was nerves and he will settle into it a little better lets hope. Could be possible that Mullen has had to spend too much time working with Franks over the last 1.5 years and hasn't put the effort into Trask or Jones.

Three this game and a one against UT Martin. You also can see it from some of the videos out of practice.

I hope it was nerves but I have a strong feeling we're going to see why he was a backup and not the starter. I hope I am wrong but he's not going to get the cushion he received from UK against better teams and now we become real limited on offense without the QB run to worry about.

I want EJ to really get some time and hopefully the starter by October.

I'm warming up to this idea but I'll give Trask the chance he's getting. We may need to bubble wrap Jones and keep him off the field though in the event Trask gets injured because if both are hurt this season could go 6-6 at best.

EJ needs reps. Which he should be getting over the next couple weeks. I think he’ll be better than Trask as well.

I look at it this way. EJ is the future. Trask is not.

Yep. This is my hope. He fits the offense but we need him to get game experience.

They’ll have to tweak the offense though. He doesn’t have the size to play battering ram.

Dan needs to get away from ramming the QB into the LOS every play anyways. If you don't have Tebow, it doesn't work but yet he still does it.

My gut tells me that Franks was better at limiting mistakes than the other two. Crazy as that sounds.

That said, its not like Trask was way behind - Mullen was ready to bench Franks last year for him and Franks doesn’t look a lot better now than at this point last season. Maybe the end of last season really was fool’s gold - those defenses jus weren’t very good and Franks exploited that.

You guys think EJ is the future. Why? Because not a thing he has shown thus far says so. Both him and Trask are most likely gap era QBs. You guys are stoned.

It’ll be interesting to see how Mullen uses him. His greatest asset is his speed. Turning him into a power runner would really limit what he can do.

The future at QB. We have nothing else bud that's why. AR is years away from being ready and he's the only guy we have coming in which is why I am on board for a grad transfer at QB

So you've seen him ply how many quarters and have spotted those "horrible" flaws? If they are greater than FF then yes, it's a step back but if not, it's an upgrade. One thing he clearly does better is pre-snap reads and that might make up for those flaws you speak of. I don't doubt he has them but so does just about every other CFB quarter back with no running game and a porous O-line.
