The future at QB. We have nothing else bud that's why. AR is years away from being ready and he's the only guy we have coming in which is why I am on board for a grad transfer at QB
Agree, if the right guy is out there. Hurts would’ve been awesome this year. If another improperly used dual threat goes on the market, I’d love to pick him up.

Paging @Swamp Donkey for his thoughts.

He does need to work on his mechanics though. Hopefully they focus on that some this week.
Its too late to fix his mechanics. Let Trask be Trask and put him in a position to be a good game manager and make plays. The athletes and more importantly the OL has to step up. We need a mix of backs to find the hot hand. The D is tight enough to keep us in games.

So you've seen him ply how many quarters and have spotted those "horrible" flaws? If they are greater than FF then yes, it's a step back but if not, it's an upgrade. One thing he clearly does better is pre-snap reads and that might make up for those flaws you speak of. I don't doubt he has them but so does just about every other CFB quarter back with no running game and a porous O-line.

Go watch the film. Crete and I both have. Trask should have been picked twice against UK and once against UT Martin.

He doesn't see the backers slide down and doesn't read zone, neither did Franks. Franks was supposedly better at limiting mistakes (can be argued)....

We will find out more this Saturday. None of us know at this point except what we have seen in the short amount of time.

I think the slant was just forced - he read it but tried to fit it in because it was a 2 PT conversion and that was the play call. The pass that was almost picked by Kash “Ankle Breaker” Daniels was terrible - should’ve never been thrown. I’m guessing we see more of that, though. He’s a gunslinger that trusts his reads, even when they are wrong.

Hurts made the right choice. Lincoln Riley is the real deal. I wish we would have pursued Tommy Stevens from Penn St but he was destined to join up with former Penn State OC.

I have no clue if there will be a player who fits but we have to think of something.

I expect to see him throw a few interceptions. He hasn't played a full quarter of football in a long time. I didn't however expect to see Franks turn the ball over so often.

EJ needs reps. Which he should be getting over the next couple weeks. I think he’ll be better than Trask as well.
I thought about this the other night and it seemed to make sense.....however I don't want to see him getting hurt because the coach's want to stick him in there to run a few QB draws/keepers.....If he goes in I want to see him run the offense, as in the whole offense not just some package.

He's cost us a lot of points this season when on the other teams side of the field or red zone. I don't mind a long int. on 3rd and long but the 1st down int. in the 1st quarter against UK was awful....

Franks doesn’t look a lot better now than at this point last season.
He didn't make the progress that most of us wanted to see. I never expected him to be stellar but he looked more like the 2017 FF than even last year. I don't wish him any bad luck but I almost feel like we may have seen the last of him.....unless both Trask and EJ stink it up the rest of this year....if that's the case we might be stuck with him for a 6th year...:headslap:

AR is years away? I can rattle off a lot of successful true freshman QBs. But that is a red herring to the point I was making ... you have no factual basis to make the claims that EJ is our future QB and Trask isn't. Nothing. And to throw out the huge tell that Mullen put in Trask and NOT EJ when the game is was on the line, and stuck with him until it was over, speaks volumes of who CDM thinks our near term future QB will be.

Am I missing a game EJ played in where he was lights out? I can't recall ... he seemed ok but nothing that denotes our future QB. Trask got the call on the road in league play when our starter went down. And he played great. How many points were we down? And we won.

I take it you don't follow recruiting. AR is a raw. Very raw. He is not a Trevor Lawrence or any other true freshman superstar.

Sure Trask got the call and he played alright. UK dropped two INTs, Trask found a way to get us the W. That's great. Can he sustain it. Neither you or I can answer that

UK didnt drop 2 interceptions. YOu are just dramatizing and over embellishing sh!t. Yes, Trask threw several ill advised throw, but he didnt fumble nor was there an interception. You over embellish stuff ... negative for Trask and positive for EJ. Try keeping your margins more focused and factual.

You guys are hilarious. In one qtr, Trask made more plays than Franks did in 3 years. Some guys make plays and some guys don’t. Simple as that. I’m looking forward to seeing what he does against Tennessee. Happy to trade an int or two for a QB that can actually throw the ball on time with accuracy.

They didn't drop to INTs? You sure about that Clark?

Against UT Martin

I'm not proclaiming EJ as a savior but he's the future. Trask is a Jr who is now going to see his first start ever against real competition. I'm not high on Trask nor am I all that high on EJ but you're over here acting like Trask is Trevor Lawrence. Get a grip.

I hope Trask does well in his time under center as it means the team does well but I have my reservations.

Lol.... no one is coming here to run the option and battle for 3rd or 4th place in the SEC East.

These guys want to pass, they want to get ready for the pros, and they want to play for championships.

Maybe the next Ingle Martin.

Wait you're telling me QBs don't want to come here and throw sideways on third and long and run straight into ass of the center of other play? Shocked I tell you
