Urban Meyer sounds ready for a coaching return next year

Urban Meyer stepped away from coaching at Ohio State and has gone into the TV business, but questions persist about how long that will last. Meyer is one of the best college football coaches in history. He has a competitive drive matched by few others. Can he be fulfilled doing TV and teaching a class at Ohio State in the same way that he was leading a team to victory each weekend during the fall? Probably not.

Shocked I tell you, shocked.

Chip Kelly should just quit this year and Peterson should ask if he can return to Boise St's staff. However, this will make the Pac 12 after dark more exciting.

He should if he needs to coach do it at high school. Not at a private school either. Little pressure, no recruiting, and just coaching.

The answer to your question, in my opinion, is ZILLIONS. But besides Urb's not liking incredible competition 10 weeks a year, there is one simple reason why he would not go to UToothless. UToothless's permanent SEC western division opponent is (drum roll please): ALABAMA. As long as the King is at Bama, Urb's is a no go at UToothless.

yeah, pac12 seems incredibly weak this year. Oregon has a pulse, maybe Utah. Stanford looks like they are going to have their worst season in years. Just the right time for meyer to come in and make himself look good

He’s gonna get a ton of money offered at the end of the year. I think he holds out for Notre Dame.

Article says Meyer may jump back into coaching in 2020 and so it might not be a timing fit at USC if they were to fire Clay Helton at the end of the year.

Umm, a hire date of January 1st, 2020 solves that issue.

Great quote from Urban in that article: "It’s been that way for a few years now. I’m just shocked. … You’re talking about one of the top 10 jobs in America.”

A few years now? More like 15 years now.
if you're a top 10 job you don't have to offer your position to 15 people to get someone to accept.

that's too late under the modern early signing day recruiting deadline.

I hope he goes west. I'm tired of him stealing our recruits.

Not that there are eight other teams doing it now also.

Difference between now and 10 years ago is Meyer is healthy. He won't want or need as much time away from the game as the last go-around.

Don't be surprised if some program decides to take a large -- as in USD -- preemptive shot at him this offseason. I could see him taking it.
