I think he will do well but my positive outlook on all things orange & blue probably clouds my ability to deconstruct the Trask task with any credibility............so take it with a grain of all that sodium in Gatorade..........:pumper::swampqueen::bananarope:
Breathtaking humility, with so many opportunities to be humble!

The real question is will Mullen let him continue to throw down field on a regular basis, or will he revert to his read option/sideways passing game plan. If it’s the former, we could be in for something special. If it’s the latter. We’re probably looking at a train wreck coming.
Stark analysis, but accurate as far as it goes. Unfortunately," Air Mullen" will be taking off without any visible support from "Ground Mullen." And there are no guarantees of a happy landing - one way or the other. This season will offer more suspense than last year, due to FF being out and the running game being AWOL thus far.

What makes people think that Trask is going to get the majority of the playing time against Tennessee? In his Kentucky post game presser comments Mullen said he had plays designed for both Trask and EJ and was prepared to use both when FF went down. Since we were behind and Trask was clicking Mullen decided to leave Trask in and EJ didn't get to see the field.

In his comments concerning the UT game, Mullen says both Trask and EJ are going to play. It is my gut feeling that Mullen favors a running quarterback. We know that because of Tebow, Mullen's time at Mississippi State, and the effort Mullen expended in developing FF into a runner. So the situation going into Tennessee is different than Kentucky. We are not behind in the fourth quarter on the road, but are starting out at home even. If EJ starts out and does good on his early possessions against Tennessee then who's to say that Mullen just won't go with EJ most of the way and Trask sees very little playing time.

This could cause some dissension and disappointment among the sizable portion of our fanbase that prefers the more drop back passing style of Trask and is eager and waiting to see a more vertical passing game utilizing our corps of receivers.

We know what Spurrier would do with a quarterback like Kyle Trask. Trask would be his guy. But even though you can tell Mullen respects what Trask has done, in his heart of hearts he likes quarterback designed running plays thus EJ is the quarterback that he's going to build his program on. What you gonna do Dan Mullen? We're about to find out.

I think its a reasonable assumption considering Trask is listed higher on the depth chart and Trask is the one who came in for FF. Maybe Trask is 1A and EJ is 1B but I don't think so. EJ is young but he's been here long enough to beat out a guy like Trask if he was going to do it. Plus in the limited times I've seen him play I haven't really been all that impressed with his throwing. My guess is he'll take some snaps but he's not going to be considered the main guy unless Trask totally schyts the bed. It'll probably be more of a freshman Tebow type rotation where he comes in during certain situations.

We need Trask to be notably successful as it would be 2 games in a row & that would hint at stability more than EJ showing as the better QB for a half of a game.?? Lets start building behind the same QB ... Trask. EJ looks like a less trickyToney.
Hoping to see :
1) Mullen using the max variety of our "stars" ... even create a star = Copeland ??
2) Mullen designs a game plan that runs UT D ragged -- a variety of drive sustaining baffling plays. Create a "Plays Gone Wild" video.
3) Trask completing many passes while spreading it around - making for any celebrating receivers, (on screen for recruits to see).
4) I've lost faith in Perine. Give me Pierce, then M.Davis, then definitely Cooper. ?Still, feature the one who averages the most YPGs.
5) Let Trask start a tradition of brilliant use of our TEs.
6) Play-schemes of misdirections that help our OL block well.??
7) Let's see some Brandon James like returns.??
8) Let our DL return to sacking lots.
9) Etc. Etc.

Kicker makes the field goal, we still get the ball back with plenty of time to get in FG range for the win.

And, if our kicker doesn't miss a chip shot, their kicker doesn't try one because they would still be behind.
Classic "if if's and but's were candy and nuts we'd all have a happy Christmas".

If you're not the leader of the team, the whole team doesn't gather around you like they did last Saturday...

This is such a false narrative. If a walk on special teams gunner has that type of gruesome injury requiring a cart, most of the team comes out. This point of the team supported him is made up by those that already supported him. I’d love to see one video of any player getting that type of injury and the team acting indifferent. It just doesn’t happen, so the support for Franks there means nothing. It also doesn’t mean he wasn’t a leader, it’s just irrelevant.

My guess is we see a lot more zone

We’ll see zone a lot as long as Danno M continues to run ~60% of the time, run about 58 plays a game, and we have a QB that isn’t pressuring the defense downfield in the seams and deep middle. Trask being unproven and perhaps likely to throw picks only increases that chance of seeing zone, not the opposite.

Even LSU may play us more zone than most other teams they play, and they are very man heavy.

The one aspect that makes zone less needed is Trask may not run much so the db’s backs turned in man isn’t too concerning. If EJ plays, we may see even more zone or combo D’s with under zones or a spy.

Not so noticed before but neither Trask (injured) nor EJ showed up in highly promising performances -- not the kind that could lead these Gators. Mullen had not prepared his spare QBs enough in real game experience. So practices must be his and Johnson's saving grace now.

When almost every and everything out there has said otherwise. If you're not the leader of the team, the whole team doesn't gather around you like they did last Saturday...
Yeah, usually when a player is carted off the field the entire team ignores him. :rolleyes3:

Teams typically come out for a bad injury. I didn’t see anything in that other genuine concern for a brother.

FF’s leadership is more reflected by how his teammates speak of him, his work ethic and how he always has their backs. Those that do not like him personally will never acknowledge the players and coaches are the ones who determine who the leaders are.

There’s a difference between leadership and likership. You sure it was the former and not the latter?

It’s not my call. The players and coaches decide who are their leaders. I’m sure most of the players like each other. It’s a pretty tight bunch.

It doesn’t hurt to be liked as a leader but it is absolutely imperative that you be respected. You can’t demand to be a leader you can only command it. Earn it. The men you lead will see through a phony in a heartbeat. If you rely only on your rank... or in this case position....you will ultimately be less effective.
