He’s been called both and he’s fine with both, so settle down.

I go as Head Ball Coach in Columbia and in Gainesville. The Ole Ball Coach started when I was two years in the NFL. Either one’s fine, but it’s mostly Head Ball Coach. ~ Head Ball Coach vs. Ole Ball Coach on ESPN's Mike & Mike

In an ESPN article on Lane Kiffin's awful year at Tennessee, Kiffin is quoted as saying in retrospect that his constant stream of obnoxiously oafish comments were just him trying to emulate his hero, Steve Spurrier, who he always admired growing up, (even wore a visor just like him). Spurrier's response to that was a classic:

"Oh, no, don't blame it on me," Spurrier said. "I wasn't doing and saying some of the stuff he was."...

..."How many years was he there -- one or two?"

When told just one, Spurrier said, "Seemed longer. I guess a lot happened in that one year."
