Think its time for some changes. I'd propose expelling Tennessee, South Carolina and Arkansas and replacing them with Ap State, Memphis and SMU respectively. Would be a clear upgrade in each case.

Honestly I would love to get a Virginia and NC school mostly NC state and Tech but I’d take UVA/NC

Seriously, absent another tectonic wave of realignment, which may or may not occur as TV contracts come up for renegotiation in a couple of years, one change I'd love to see immediately is the East trading Mizzou to the West for Auburn. Bammer aside (and I get how friggin big that rivalry is), it would reunite Auburn with 3 big rivals (us, the Humpers and the Chuggers), it would provide some competitive balance and make more sense geographically.

Certainly protect the Iron Bowl, but bring Barn east and send Mizzou west.

As for the conference expanding - and we are not kicking anyone out - the two 400 lb gorillas in the room are Texas and Oklahoma. When the next wave comes, I doubt the Big 12 survives in its current iteration. Would those two schools come east to us, or go west to the Pac 12 (which almost happened in the last round of realignment)? Does the Big 10 get aggressive again and scoop them up? Are OU and Okie State a package deal?

Think of how brutal the conference would be if UT and OU were added to the West and Bammer and Barn moved the East....

Bama isn't giving up their yearly gimme against Tennessee any time soon.

UCF could beat half the teams in the SEC. They'd be a logical addition.

The logical additions are Va Tech & NC State: it gives the SEC a footprint in two states we don't currently have a footprint in; both schools are essentially the step-child to UVA & UNC. UNC & Duke would never leave each other (ACC), but NC State would welcome it plus the SEC money. Va Tech would also put the SEC into the DC market. Additionally, the schools have other programs that would compliment the SEC non-revenue programs.

If we did expand Texas is not one to look at. To much of a headache and a slap in the face to A&M after how long they took to get out from under them. Oklahoma and Oklahoma state is a package deal. That would move Missouri west and Barn and Bama east. The most likely would be NC St and VT but the ACC buyout is big. UNC and Duke not giving up that rivalry.

Well, looks like I failed with this thread. Was intended to be a tongue in cheek, let’s make fun of how bad Tenn, SC and Arky are. Didn’t mean for it to be an actual discussion about realignment. Oh well.

If we’re strictly talking football, Virginia Tech is in no way, shape, or form the stepchild to UVA. Even academically it’s a great school (although not quite on UVA’s level). And I’m saying that at someone who deeply hates Tech.

I hate that that particularly crappy rivalry game is the only thing stopping a common sense divisional realignment that every other team in the league would like. I mean seriously - how stupid is that? Maybe if Tennessee continues to embrace its identity as Vandy-East, the league will finally admit that that game isn’t worth keeping. Like they did with Auburn and Florida (and that still rubs me the wrong way - both teams were still considered high caliber when the shift was made - why is it ok to chop the conference’s oldest rivalry but not a dying one between a giant and a has been?).

I take Tech or Wahoos. Both would be better additions to the conference than Mizzou was. Snap up a NC school to compliment and the SEC is in business.

You're an idiot.

They would be a lower middle ACC team, until they got an injury or two.

And we aren't letting any team from Florida in, certainly on a 1AA directional team.

The only teams that make any sense are Texas and Oklahoma. We aren't looking for some reason to give mid atlantic people something to watch. This is all about $$$. They are who we are waiting on.

I don’t disagree. I just like the “Southernness” of the conference. Adding in Austin or Norman does nothing to further that. TAMU was iffy enough and Mizzou just plain don’t fit. Not looking for additional interlopers.

VT and NC State would be perfect
Only concern about Tech is that time may have passed them by. No more Beamer. Been trash ever since. And its not like Blacksburg is a great place to be - UVA is currently on the upswing in football and a power in bball/baseball. Better place to go too.

Kentucky
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Missouri
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

There you have it, the teams from the SEC that UCF is ranked ahead of by writers and the coaches -- you know, the idiot coaches.

Do I need to post the last two seasons, too?

They're even ranked ahead of A&M in the AP Poll.

Do us all a favor. Go back to your garage like a good little boy.
