I wanted to give you a like, but you kept calling my starting QB trash. His name is Trask. Or Kyle if you can't spell Trask. I know Donkeys don't go to school, so maybe just UF QB1 would work?

Who GAF?

You know, Wuerffel often threw multiple ints. If you are throwing tds (or moving the ball and acoring after some diwnfield passes) ints dont hurt much. i bet #15 and #8 wish they had those catches over again.

Very nice to see vertical offense. Very nice to see WRs not blocking on almost every play (even on the passes the last three games, they were often called screens, and WRs except the one, were blocking).

Receivers running patterns create room even for draws, make LBs and safeties hesitate to read pass or run. This isnt hard.

Other teams will know better than selling out vs the run, bc we will use our WRs perhaps.

I bet #15 and #8 wish they had another chance at those touchdown passes.

We are still thoroughly wedded to zone-read. Emory Jones will be that guy, it seems. I guess I don't mind because frankly it works when he's on the field, but I just don't want to see it when Trash is on the field.

We ran some zone read in the first half with Trash however. Of course the unblocked defensive end was destroying Perine in the backfield. In the second half, he had some nice runs off traditional blocking plays, a power and something else (I forget what).

With Trash, this is what we must do.

So.... then you have a conventional offense running power, off tackle, etc for Trash and zone read and that playbook for EJ, for offensive line that's already marginal. personally, I say shelve the zone-read for the year and run a conventional offense even when EJs on the field. Make it sumple for the OL.

Preseason is almost over.

Articulate.
You need to quit calling him Trash. He's our starting quarterback, and deserves more respect than that. He's earned it.

Trask far exceeded my expectations. You can't argue with a decisive final score. Against a "rival". Well done, young man. Very well done.

A couple of thoughts before we all go booking our trips to the playoff: He did make some troubling decisions throwing into coverage and might have been lucky to have only thrown two picks. And the Chuggers are a historically awful football team. So it makes sense to view Trask's stats/results through that prism. Actually, apply that last sentence to the entire team. We may look back at Trask starting against UT as a perfectly-timed blessing. He received the benefit of cutting his SEC teeth against a rival and at home - but one that is so bad they might not win half their games in C-USA. Fulmer is the gift that keeps giving.

Flipside is, he hopefully has shaken off the rust and has re-learned his limitations while building game confidence. And I agree with the other posters that have pointed out that Trask's shortcomings seem much more coachable than Franks' - both physically and mentally. I am optimistic Mullen can get him straightened out. And I have to believe our running attack is going to improve - even in the face of stiffened competition. I mean, it can't get much worse, can it?

But man, what a friggin joy to watch a vertical passing attack again. It actually felt like I was watching Gator football for the first time in a loooong time.

If he continues to learn and improve and the running attack improves, we might do a little damage the rest of the way.

Go Gators.

Spurrier said he enjoyed watching Kyle chuck it around. Says he throws a “catchable” ball like Danny did.

I knew he was loving the pitch and catch.

Nothing wrong with chucking the ball downfield. It's long overdue. However, absent improvement in the running game, we become just another Pac-12 freak show.

The running game HAS to get better if we are to reach our goals.

Hilarious. The donk is so emotionally injured from being totally and completely WRONG about our QB who is a great kid and all gator and one of the best passers we have seen here in years that his childish name calling continues. The fact that someone could be so wrong must really be embarrassing. Instead of admitting just how horribly wrong he has been, he reverts back to his playground antics to somehow attempt to justify himself. All the while being viewed as an immature emotional weakling. Time to have auto correct make the name donk into dick. Grow the fck up.
I have disliked the ragging on Trask for some time. I had no idea if he was talented enough to succeed at this level or not, but have known for a while that he was a good guy and a good representative for the university.

I never thought the kid would be talented enough to play in the SEC and he very well may have some hard times in his future but the kid is a true gator and isn't a hothead or a trouble maker and he is a team player who will give his all to this team. He is obviously the best QB on our roster.

Anyone who refers to Trask as "Trash" is a piece of crap. Especially after how this kid has conducted himself throughout highschool and now as a Gator.

I don’t think Mullen wants KT to run as much, and given FF out, why would he unless he is a ....

CDM needs to look at some of his plays and revamp. I realize he works a lot at trying to set up the big strike, but as was said earlier, with limited snaps you can’t waste them. Clearly a ball that travels 20 yards down the middle is a bigger gain than one that travels 20 yards to the sideline. Take what they give you. I thought KT looked a little frustrated at the pace of the team getting back to the ls in the redzone.
Saw a lot of sideways crap in other games yesterday that went nowhere....teams then started throwing down the center,
A lot of our upcoming competition looked to tackle much better than us. Will give props to Marco for actually sticking the rb at least once yesterday .
Random thoughts Go Gators

Zone read is a novelty with Trask that can only be used effectively once a game. It’s only integral with EJ In there.

He’s gotta figure out how to get his run fix on without shooting himself in the foot with it but if he creates a two headed monster that works we may put a bigger scalp on the wall this year.
This.....in a perfect world this team needs to run about 30-40% option stuff and here's why. One it's something else for DC's to game plan around allowing them less time to install blitzes, disguising coverages and so on. Two, it allows us to use tempo and effectively negate defensive substitutions(rotating fresh big boys to stop the run) it's no secret why we had success running the ball toward the end of last year....go back and watch EVERY time we took over a game it was right after we ran some uptempo option stuff....

Now here's the real beauty of it. We know EJ can pass the ball fairly well so when defenses go to their "option rotation" we've got instant mis matches in the passing game with guys like Pitts, Grimes and Copeland. I think it would be lights out and could potentially help us steal a tough game or 2 in the month of October....

Three we're going into the land of 4 and 5 star DB's and worse yet possibly for Trask is 4 and 5 star well coached defensive lines....he won't be able to plant his feet for 4-5 seconds while he goes through reads....Switching between the 2 offenses doesn't allow the defense to pin it's ears back OR crowd the box because both of our guys can throw....pretty simple actually.

Agreed, but it’s nice to see us eating up 20 yds a play thru the air. Been a while, eh?

Enjoy it while it works/lasts.

He makes me nervous when he drops back and stands there like a statue sometimes but his ball is thrown early and on time. Something we haven’t seen since Leak.

He seems to have a better internal clock than Franks. I watched the replay and he takes about three seconds to read and fire. Stands tall for longer when he thinks he can and only failed to feel the pressure doing that once or twice. He’s not doing it cuz he’s confused like Franks, he’s trying to hit the defense as hard as he can.

Sometimes... but then others, you scratch your head. I think he’s good at getting it out quick when something opens - Franks was not - but he hasn’t quite figured out when to just bail - something Franks was pretty good at.

Gators Breakdown was talking about that today on the game recap and both commentators felt that things being what they are at the moment, they want the gunslinger with the confidence to stand in the pocket to try to find the open read. Dan will coach him up, no doubt.

If there was ever any doubt that the Donkey will be openly rooting against Trask, those doubts have been dashed. I don't understand it, I really don't. We're actually stretching the field like he's wanted for years and he's still unhappy.

Only on this board do I find it weird that our QB has to be defended from other Gators. Sometimes I feel like I'm reading opponent boards reading about Trask. I was never a pumper for Franks being our starting QB. But I sure as hell never trashed him. Good god....
