I'm watching the show "Championship Drive" on the ESPN app. They are talking about the Gators and our win, and they are actually debating whether or not we might be held out of the the Playoffs by the Committee because of our two games against FCS teams.

First of all, they start by saying that if we were to lose one game (say LSU) and win out, how the two FCS games might keep us out and that it would definitely be a consideration for the Committee. The reporter says "I promise you...the two wins against UT-Martin and Towson will be a sticking point." That is absolutely ridiculous to me. Why does it matter that we played UT-Martin and Towson instead of Akron and Charlotte? Are they really any different? We would have had to beat Auburn, Georgia, and Bama most likely to be at that point. Not to mention the rest of our SEC schedule and Miami and FSU. How is this even a discussion?

But, here is where it gets absolutely ridiculous. They start having a legitimate conversation about whether or not we would make it to the Playoffs EVEN IF WE WERE UNDEFEATED!!!!! One reporter literally said that she thinks the Committee may not put us in because of those two wins. She said she "cannot say that definitively" because of those two games. So, two games that are without question intended to be our two easiest games of the schedule would somehow trump the fact we would have beaten Auburn, LSU, Georgia, and Bama and would be undefeated in the best conference in the nation? Ridiculous that this is even being talked about.

Are you kidding me? This is the stupidest conversation I have ever heard. How does this stuff even make it on major TV?

I've said it we get no respect we would not even be considered unless we won and beat Alabama in the sec championship game but let Auburn beat a overrated Oregon and they automatically jump into the top 10

It is a moot point.

But hopefully it keeps Stricklin from Cowbelling in the future. We dont need the extra cupcakes to pad our wins.

Win out the rest of the schedule and let things take care of themselves. We have no control over what some commentator theorizes might happen, but we do have control over what happens on the field.

It’s likely moot anyway. But even putting aside the fact that an undefeated SEC Champ is going to the Playoff and any suggestions otherwise are complete lunacy, mathematics alone say that wouldn’t happen. We’re currently 7th and that scenario would mean that we would’ve beaten 3 teams in front of us, one of whom(Ala or LSU) would have two losses. Just jumping those three teams would be enough.

I noticed in your post, you said “she”. I’m guessing this is someone who either a) doesn’t know at all what she’s talking about, or b) just wants attention and figures a shock value story will create just that. But spewing that type of nonsense only makes the job of her colleagues, plenty of whom know their subject very well, that much tougher.

Just a dumb conversation. No one will keep us from CFP if we win out. Just impossible. Our SOS even with the two FCS teams is probably one of the most difficult, especially since Auburn exceeded preseason expectations and came in ranked in the top 10.bThat being said I don't see us not losing at least 2 games in the regular season.

Wouldn’t worry about it. We aren’t winning out and I highly doubt we only lose one. In the event we do win out, we’re in the playoff - no matter what the commentator said. The list of top 10 teams we beat would far outweigh any other teams list of wins and would erase any concerns about FCS schools.

SEC Champ is in the Playoffs unless they have 2 loses, 100%, guaranteed. But we aren't ready for Bama. Just not enough talent on either side of the ball. If we somehow get to that game, unfortunately that's where this ride ends.

You answered your own question when you said this was an ESPN show.

Those tards are idiots.

Any and all playoff scenarios or rankings being thrown out there halfway into the season are meaningless. Just ignore them.

I stopped watching those types of shows years ago because I don't care what their opinions are on football, many if which were dumb. Your example probably is the stupidest thing anyone has said on that show. How many other teams in the country play 3-4 top 10 teams? The committee won't care about the fcs teams. Those games alone make this schedule one of the toughest in the nation.
