Injury Updates?

Basically it came down to three factors:

1) Pierce lowered his head
2) There was no apparent intent to injure, defender didn’t launch up or into Pierce’s head
3) Pierce was not a defenseless player

This was Gary’s and the replay ref that they call up from New York or whoever he sits explanation as to why it wasn’t targeting. I’d be fine with this, except I’ve seen players flagged AND ejected for much less, which is why the rule is fuking stupid.

I didn’t think #1 and #2 were supposed to matter. Barn guy led with crown of his helmet and ear holed Bainbridge. That should be it unless the ball carrier has to be defenseless. I didn’t think they ever ruled a runner defenseless but we saw it called on a QB hit last week (in NFL?).

If “defenseless” isn’t an issue that was clear cut targeting. If it is an issue, not sure you’d ever call a runner defenseless unless he was stopped already and someone teed off on him. Also, how could they ever enforce that rule with a QB or RB running it up the middle?

I wouldn't know. I haven't pierced anything in over a decade. Unless you count fish mouths...

In my day we were taught to tackle with our helmets....that's where my name comes from. Opposing players accused me of having concrete in my helmet besides rocks in my head. I always replied that it was better than having sh!t for brains.....

Copeland is talking of transferring again looks like his dad replied to his tweet. View attachment 17125

Posting that kind of whining, needy, selfish crap should be addressed quickly and directly by CDM.

Can any of us imagine being part of a team and creating a distraction mid-season b/c we weren’t getting enough attention and our feelings were hurt? Not a single one of us would do that.

Freaking Pops feeding into that self-absorption is sad and probably telling. You support your children, but you also teach them how to act with character and not in public. It’s that mindset of needing to be lauded in public or you pout, go home, and cry about how everyone is out to get you.

If you aren’t seeing the field enough, bust your ass even harder. There are a lot of WR spots, so thinking about the transfer portal as a WR is for losers. That’s what I’d look him in the eye and tell him tomorrow if I were Dan.

Can’t have an immature wannabe talking about transferring while the rest of the team is focused and working their butts off.

In all seriousness, has there ever been a single head injury sustained by a golfer during the course of play? If the PGA requires baselining, there should be a lot more ridicule and fun-poking at that activity. Yes, it’s an activity or a game; golf is NOT a sport.

A true Soph, on a team loaded with WRs, should be ok with his role at this point. Having 3 TDs midway through the season isn’t a reason to start talking transfer. And having only 1 because you dropped the other two, is even less.

Hopefully he sticks it out.

I was at the game, so didn't really see hear any explanation about why it wasn't a penalty for targeting? The student section was pretty animated for the rest of the game as a result and I tend to think with some justification too.

It was clearly helmet to helmet...did the broadcast explain why it wasn't flagged?

Almost every time an RB lowers his head in an act of bracing for impact (has no target in sight). That Auburn tackler aimed for Pierce's helmet (head) by tucking his helmet and aiming targeting the RB's head. Pierce's body was nearly horizontal, meaning his gain was ending. I think Pierce's concussion response serves as evidence qualifying that the hit was of the nature that the rule was made to prevent. It was dangerous ... and Pierce is not yet safe to return.

If this is true Copeland is dumber than that commitment video he made. We're losing losing 4 or 5 of our top receivers to graduation next year. He needs to focus more on not dropping sure touchdowns and less on being a dumbass.
Yeah, I dont know where he thinks he could transfer for more playing time than here.

Frankly all he has to do is suck less than the walk-ons and he's going to be STARTIMG next year. Rick Wells too.

None of those Butterslike project wide receivers we've signed in addition are going to be pushing him.

we're going to probably have to play a bunch of double or triple tight end sets just to have enough receivers

Had that been our player doing the crown of the helmet hit to the earhole of the runner he would have been ejected on the spot with little to no review.

The refs gave Auburn at least 6 questionable calls including 2 short first downs and took away our first down called on the field using a video replay from an angle that made it impossible to fairly reverse the call on the field.

We should all email Scott Stricklin and request that he file a formal complaint to Greg Stanky and the SEC office.
The crew should be suspended for at least 2 games and I guarantee you several of them were Auburn grads or have children attending Auburn.

Video don’t lie.
