The Pioneer Restaurant in Zolfo Springs, corner of US 17 and SR 64. They don’t take credit cards, old wood paneling & furniture that looks like it was salvaged from a 1974 Sizzler, but really good traditional diner & southern food. Excellent fried chicken, burgers, catfish and swamp cabbage on Fridays. My father-in-law eats there all the time and we love it when we visit.

The Frostbite on Scenic Highway on the north side of Frostproof. Nothing “lacking” except its location requires a 5-minute diversion from US 27. Great food & ice cream.

Restaurant we’ve been going to is schooners. Very osteen like without the two hour wait. Located on 1 just before entering the gates of st Augustine

Yeah, read my post #28 about Schooners.

BTW, the owner Charlie, and his wife, are great people.

Last time I ate there, maybe 2005 or 06, we watched a rat running around in the dining room.

Papas is a little barebones bbq place in St Pete/Clearwater that prices are good, and they start smoking their meat (not in a URG way) around 5am and lunch rush hits about 11-11:30, if you wait until 1 they will be out of food. All the machinists and blue collars will get there before you can. Cheap healthy servings.

I don't remember the name of this place, it's on Atlantic Blvd in Jacksonville. Couple of weeks ago I picked up this guy that does yard work for me (he's a rough one) and on the way back to the house he tells me he's hungry, wants me to buy him lunch and wants to stop at this weird looking burger joint. He says that they have great food. So we go inside and after looking at the place I quickly decide I'm not eating...he weighs maybe a buck forty and he orders two cheese burgers all the way fries and a drink. I pay for the food and he immediately spills his jumbo limeade drink all over the counter. The two skags behind the counter look as though they are gonna have a stroke. I went to the bathoom while he's waiting on his food and the bathroom looks worse than the restaurant so I turn around and head back for a table. He sits down and immediately begins devouring his burgers which is a good thing cause I want to get the hell out of this place. So I'm looking around at the bits of food and crap people have spilled on the floor and I notice the giant cockroach on the floor in between two tables....he's on his back kicking his legs and struggling and I figured he must have eaten some of this joints food. He really begins kicking and fluttering around and I then I realize he's getting a mudhole stomped in his ass by this frigging spider that is considerably smaller than him. (I too have had a similar experience) I point this death match out to John who has now finished his lunch. John got up to get a closer look and felt the need to stomp on these two and kick them under a table.
