Great analysis as usual Cover. When Greenard went down I knew we weren't going to win. SOS didn't have an undefeated season. Even the 2006 and 2008 seasons had losses. Ugly lost to an unranked team at home. We lost to a true top 4 team in Death Valley at night. We have a clear path to Atlanta. If we're at full strength I wouldn't mind watching a rematch with LSU.

No. We lead the East and if we get Greenard and Zuniga back we will win the East.
Doesn't Missouri lead the East?

We played well. I don’t understand the naysaying that is going on here. Over the last decade we don’t play that well in that environment. Basically we get blown out. Do we have depth issues....yes! Do we have opportunities in coaching, especially on d....yes! But here is a fact.
We had 6 75+ yard drives, 457 yards of offense, controlled the clock and had nearly 30 first downs. We beat most teams last night. Unfortunately, we found ourselves in a shootout with a very good team at home (#2 today in polls). We made a couple of critical errors at crucial times. Things we could work out of against most teams, in most games...not there not last night. Another game with 300 yards passing. Well in the game till very late. Clean up a few mistakes and we have a legitimate chance last night. We are a star system better than we’ve been. Even our 11-1 Chimp year and the 10 win years with Sharkhumper would have ended in a blowout 9 out of ten times, every thing the same. This is the best LSU team in years, and we hung with them in their element. We were their toughest challenge thus far.

To be fair it was easy to miss....

That ref at the goal line should be fired......

And on that one play you're pointing out here, Cleveland was held so badly his pants nearly got pulled down as the defender fell to the ground hanging on for dear life and the ref just ignored it. Should've been an automatic 1st down and the INT shouldn't have counted.

and the game was 35-28.....we score and it's tied.

Whole different ball game

While that’s definitely a hold, Trask wasn’t even looking at him. In fact, just further proves that Trask was hell bent on scoring instead making the smart play. He throws to to Cleveland, it’s a first down, maybe touchdown, or a penalty. He was just locked onto his WR and LSU knew it.

Does it make it less of a penalty that should've been called?

Not at all. A play can have two bad things at the same time.

I agree that Trask should've definitely went to Cleveland with a LB matched up on him. That's the mismatch situation you want to create. Trask tried to do too much.

still should've been called either way. there is no way that the ref at the goal line did not see that. It's directly in his line of sight

Coach O talks about putting the pedal to the metal for 60 minutes and that's what happened Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. LSU only punted two times. LSU was able to impose its will on a gutsy, gritty Gator team that played its heart out. In order to beat teams like this year's LSU edition with Joe Burrow on the road you nearly have to play a damn perfect game. Perfect games this year by the visiting team in Death Valley Baton Rouge will be non-existent.

But look what we've done so far. We've knocked out an Auburn team that was gaining in momentum. Urban Meyer said he thought they were the best team in the country before they came into Gainesville. Now Auburn is an also ran, an after thought. We went toe to toe and slugged it out with LSU in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. For three quarters we gave as good as we got.

Go Gators.

Agreed!! I think we are the best team in the East. Watching UGA (understanding it was a bad game for them, but also seeing bad games for them before this) I think we can retake the East this year. If we make it to the SECCG, we really don’t have a chance to win it, but we put out foot down in that place and come back next year to win.

Im not

We played LSU nose to nose late into that game. We could have won the game were it not for Trasks’ interception and CDMs boneheaded move to throw a series with EJ into the game when Trask was moving the ball. I called the interception when Trask came back into the game.

Georgia has more talent, but they are not playing well this year. We can beat them and Mizzou. USCe played their best game ever on Saturday, They won’t have the same experience with us, even in their house. They’re a 3-3 team for a reason.

We can make it to the SECCG. But we can’t win it (unless LSU beats BAMA on 11/9 ... then the rematch favors us ... which then puts us into the playoffs. ).

We made several mistakes that would have made the game closer and perhaps a win for us. Trask missed a wide open receiver in the back of the end zone and missed the same throw earlier in the game. We missed a chip block by the back that destroyed a promising play. As always our run blocking and oline were serious issues, as is our front seven not being great. SC will be a real test, we should win but a loss would send the season in the wrong direction.

It was the worst defensive performance in decades. Saying "we played well" is ludicrous.

Without Trask UF loses that game by 40 points.

With anyone but Trask, we don't score more than 14 in that game.

"worst defensive performance in decades"...giving up 218y rushing / 293y passing (Bolded any with total 450y+)

2018 MIZZ 221y / 250y close, but not as bad
2017 UGA 292 / 101 not as bad
2017 MIZZ 227 / 228
2017 USC 229 / 249
2016 ARK 223 / 243
2015 ALA 233 /204 (SECCG)
2015 MICH 225 / 278 (Bowl) Close
2014 ALA 223 / 449 (Regular Season) WORST
2013 MIZZ 205 / 295
'Bout the same
2013 GaSou 429 / 0 one sided bad
2011 Furman 233 /213
2009 ALA 251 / 239

Bottom line we have had some absolutely miserable performances on defense, and this wasn't close to the worst....but that was an outlier. This LSU game does rank in the top worst performances in the past decade. This sucks. If history is any teacher (which it isn't), we shouldn't have a game this bad for awhile, but there are going to be bad ones here and there.

It wasn’t about total yards, it was yards per play. It was a historically bad night.

Exactly. The offense did an amazing job of dominating the time of possession and tiring out their defense. It's hard to say whether the defense is really this bad or only this bad without Greenard. We desperately need him back for Ugly. Even crippled, we should be able to handle Chimp's offense without a problem.
