It's time for Trask to play an entire game without getting yanked

And what were the passes when Emory was in there? Go ahead and give us the list, genius.

I was talking about the offense WITHOUT Trask. He's the only thing making us a passing team at the moment, and trust me when I tell you Mullen cannot wait until he thinks Jones is ready so he can sit Trask back on the bench full time and we can move away from those pesky downfield throws.

Sober up.
He threw three. A weird TD pass. A beautiful pass 20 yards over the middle that Pitts dropped. And a third to Swain on a 3rd and 7. Offense was definitely run heavy while he was in but Mullen trusted him to throw some tough ones and they looked good.

Are you counting yac too?

But we are throwing more medium passes than Mullinz ever has.
Who knows - maybe those were in there for Franks but he just didn’t take them. Its hard to imagine that Mullen trusts Jones more than Franks and Jones has been throwing over the middle.

Out of 11 plays with EJ in he threw it 3 times. A good throw over the middle to Pitts for a TD but the defender hit Pitts at the perfect moment. A desperation throw for a TD that luckily wasn't intercepted in caught by Perine after a juggle. A overthrown over the middle drive ending throw.

Mehhhhh.... it isnt always easy to see from tv view but most of those screens were obvious from the get-go, WRs hat low and running straight to DBs for blocks, with one guy, as the sole receiver.

I dont know how much that is related to wanting a run game, and screens basically being Mullinz version of toss sweeps vs trust issues.

There is no doubt about it, despite Giraffe throwing the occasional incredible deep ball, he somehow has no accuracy on medium stuff.

Trash is basically the opposite.

Trask definitely is limited on the long ball. Not sure we need him slinging it 50 yards down field though. He exploits those 20+ yard passes down the middle so well that defenses are stretched thin.

And I agree there were a lot of called screens but FF was starting to look further down field. Just seemed like he took the easiest available throws instead of the best. For instance, our middle slant game is alive and well. Was DOA with FF.

Someone give me our rushing stats with Emory in the game. I’ll bet the YPC is lower when he’s in the game than Trask.

You realize he positively contributed to 3 of the 4 TD drives, right? The only drives he was a part of that did not score were his drive and Trask’s INT. Not sure if he handed the ball off on any other plays.

Other than the play Perine became Superman and broke out for a big gain, the running game against LSU was noticeably better with EJ in the game.

That also reminds me. On Perine's long run, had Cleveland turned around and blocked the defender right behind him when the play broke, Perine would have done cartwheels into the endzone. Instead he just ran upfield towards no one. Doesn't matter as we scored on the drive anyway.

It's almost as if..............*GASP*.............Mullen runs the plays that suit the quarterback's talents!

Until he gets inside the 30yd line. Then it gets progressively worse the closer we get to the goal line.

To say the 'run game got noticeably better with EJ in the game' is a bit of a eye roller in reality. He had like 11 plays in the game and 8 of them he ran himself. Had he stayed in the game and kept doing that stuff ... it would have got shut down.

And you can't block back towards your endzone. Its a penalty. Cleveland could have ran in front of the guy and interfered with him though.

Sas is right on the button. Cleveland was sprinting upfield in front of Perine like HE had the ball. Totally bizarre. I'm sure he'll get his ass chewed in the film room for that one.

:britney:

Since when? Players get blocked in that direction all the time. You can't make crack back/blind side blocks anymore, but it wouldn't have been illegal for him to turn around and put his hands on him.

I dont know since when ... but Danielson went on about it for a while in a game I was watching this year and he got specific with the wording ... you can't block back towards your own goal line. But I agree ... Cleveland could have got in his way and run in front of him like you see all the time when you have a guy on a break with some teammates surrounding him. I vividly remember exactly what you described and yelling at Cleveland (the TV) to get in the guys way.

That requires basic comprehension skills which Ox apparently lacks
