Remember Gray was w Choker at VaTech. He could follow him too. Ive never really heard him discussed as DC material by any team, but maybe is similar to CS, strong recruiter and maybe averagish DC is good enough.

CR was an intern two years ago. He should still be learning his job in 1AA or something . I agree he leaves w Grantham and will applaud it.

Touche but we won in 06 and 08 BECAUSE of great defense and ST and just an occasional dash of offense.

Thats why you dont hire those OCs whonwere actually the weaknesses of their staff, regardless of whether or not they happened to win a ring.

English has no business being any kind of coach. He’s an ideal candidate for an analyst job.
Hate to remind you guys but the last time we hired a DC before Grantham we hired an old, obviously incompetent guy with a proven track record of failure bc he was cheap and already on the staff.

I get where you’re going but Mullen is not Mac. I’m guessing he gets another hyper aggressive guy.

yeah that sounds like us. just throwing money at anybody that's available.

we are still talking about the program that went through recruiting season 3 coaches short so we didn't have to pay the higher buyout that is paid if we hire our new coach before signing day right? then bragged about how smart we were for doing that to our media parrots, right?
I did say "maybe."

Completely agree about hiring “pupils”. Like when everyone got excited about Pease - assumed the BSU magic was coming here. Major bust. That said, I’d take my chances with TRob. If nothing else, our defense would be absolutely stacked when he eventually got fired.

Have you watched much of his falcons defense? I don't want a dc that plays that much zone. And his defense is well known for its lack of technique and discipline. Whatever he was at UF, he isn't that now. A running joke in Atlanta is that is where talented defenders go to die.
I bet if he was back in college, with the kind of DBs you can recruit to UF, he run more man. As for the wisecrack, I don't see guys (for the most part) leaving Atlanta and suddenly being stars other places.
Just because his current defense blows (and yes they are awful) and his defenses in general in Atlanta have been average to bad, doesn't mean he would not succeed at UF. His defenses in Seattle were excellent because he had great athletes. No shortage of great athletes to recruit in the Southeast. And plenty of college coaches were less successful in the pros and vice versa.
He struck me as a guy whose ceiling was as a coordinator and he's not a great HC (despite one season where they really came close).

Geoff Collins might be available soon ... :stirpot:
He could come back as long as he leaves the chalice. I like him better than dawg choker. Also, would be interesting to see CDM address the “lat move” comment.

He addressed that when he went from MSU to UF as the HC

I don't know. The "money down", the side hat, the bling signs on the sideline. I'm just not sure it's such a good idea to be dripping with so much swag.

Especially with all that new carpet.
they made them replaceable squares for a reason you know...
