It's time for Trask to play an entire game without getting yanked

I don’t know if any team in the country beats LSU that night. While their defense wasn’t great, their offense was about as good as it gets.

I’m sure there’s a few out there that could’ve beaten them. We had a historically bad defensive performance and was still in the game until very late. I’m sure one of the elites could’ve beaten them.

I totally agree with ox. Mullen probably cost us the game with couple of boneheaded calls in that game. I did not mind giving him a drive or two but let Trask finish his drives.

As far as the OL, Delance has been playing hurt the whole season. He's finally out of the line up and we will finally see what Gouraige can do at LT with Stone Forsyth at RT. Now if he can yank Bleich for just anybody, I would be happy as a clam.

Defensively I hope we actually play a 3-4 defense. We might be able to actually stop the run and it is a better fit for our depleted DL depth. Dan man, you cannot have a 75 player roster when everybody has 85.

I didn't read thru the whole thread so forgive me if this has already been said, but Mullen HAS to play EJ. Trask, while a decent QB, has a history of getting injured and was almost severely injured against Auburn. EJ needs reps. I know some of you love to hate everything Mullen does, but it's ridiculous to jump to some conclusion that he wants to sabotage the team for the sake of his offense.

You don't not play a guy who is kicking ass on the off chance he gets hurt. That's absurd.

I agree and if they changed and then threw the ball or did something unexpected that might work, but to just run the same old QB inside run means Tim must have returned. Even he was stopped in a critical play that might have cost us an undefeated season, and would have cost one of the best inspirational speeches of all time.

I read where Trask had a 140+ rating last week. I understand the need to get the new highly rated guy in; but, as ox stated, not when your starter is hot and the game is on the line. EJ needs snaps, but there is right time to build his confidence.

I think we need to give EJ some playing time in a real game. Give him a series or two a game, one in each half. But don't interrupt the flow of a series. Is it time to use an HB/FB with the run blocking? Maybe bring Ethan White to replace Bleich? Bleich has good size, 337#, is he just too slow or weak or...?

I want EJ to play! Well, I mean after we have a huge lead that is...

Have your sources mentioned whether any of the freshman O-lineman are ready yet?

Good,glad that's all history.

A smart HC creates depth by playing the next in line. QB is most crucial to have a competent backup. However, no HC should risk losing a game by playing the less effective QB at a particular time nor interrupt a QB who is in a groove. Keep EJ at UF by playing him enough that he will not be much drop-off should Trask succumb to injury.

I disagree. In hindsight, It's easy to question the timing of it, but It's not a bad stand alone decision.

The other option is hitching the season to Trask's health. We're still in the top 10. And we only have 2 capable QBs. You better get them both ready.

So go ahead and lose games in the name of "getting them both ready"? Ludicrous.

My point has been clear, and it's not hard to understand. There are times when it's great to play Emory. The second half of the LSU game was not one of those times. That's all I've been trying to say. Get Emory "ready" in less crucial game scenarios.

Let's hope Mullen doesn't pull that stuff again in the upcoming East contests.

Trask threw 2 picks in the second half and could have easily had 1-2 more.

This isn't why you platy him. I've said this before, but you have to play EJ due to the current transfer rules. Highly rated recruits are transferring elsewhere so they can play. Justin Fields, Joe Burrow and on and on. EJ can certainly start for a number of quality teams next season. Mullen needs to play him just to keep EJ satisfied enough to stay. FF is gone. If EJ leaves too, that leaves AR as the lone backup next season.
