I saw him at a Pinellas Gator Club meeting in 2007. There were maybe 20 people in attendance. Mike's good in front of a crowd. We laughed a lot. He sat in his beat up old Toyota in the parking lot preparing for the talk. I took note of that.

Journalists tend to live a spartan life. Unless you're really connected, there really is no money. He obviously loves what he does or he wouldn't be doing it 40 years later.
when I heard about his mansion I almost laughed. Newspaper people are a dying breed and the $$$ is not there........

My only real problem with Bianchi (who is 1,000 times the writer as the local Gator guys) is his tendency to take swipes at Gator fans, which really bugs me. A few of you may have noticed I'm a bit defensive when it comes to Gator fans, who have a completely unfair and ridiculous national perception.

That and he’s regularly wrong. But I don’t hold most of his wrong takes against him because, well, that’s kind of the point of having a column and a radio show. He’s a lot better on air than ESPN, Dan Patrick or Cowherd.

Beeonnkee is more of a Jekyll and Hyde to me. More often than not his asshattedness shines through brilliantly. He does take too many swipes at the Gator Nation.

Nah. Bianchi is a professional gadfly,
Word of the day, gadfly. Excellent .......an annoying person, especially one who provokes others into action by criticism
If that action is a triggered response that perfectly describes a host of character here.

I don't have a problem with Urbs in the ROH. His performance at UF deserves it just for the way he took OSU to the woodshed when every sports writer in the nation was saying we had no business even getting off the bus at the same stadium with them. I don't know what the dude had going on in his life at the end but he clearly lost his edge and energy. I've stumbled into that a time or two in my life under much less stressful conditions so I kinda get it. He and I are the same age and sometimes you just need a new start elsewhere.

And frankly, if the bald headed Echibod Crane looking cock sucking, Gator hating Findbaum hates him, there must be something good about Urban Meyer.

Never really looked at his tattoos before. The replica of Jesus’ hands are a little out of place given his behavior. But apparently he liked gambling, money in general, and I can only guess was a shareholder in Texaco, pre-merger.

They all kind of meld together to me. Looks like he just emerged from an oil slick.

He clearly ran out of room with the cursive writing. Started out like a Truth Takes post, and then he realized the limitations in real estate and had to just jumble it all together.

Agreed, and the false narrative is used against us in recruiting when in actuality almost every team in the SEC has way worst fans than UF. I base this on reading multiple rival message boards and believe one of the things that should and will bring Georgia's recruiting back to earth is their horrible fan base.

There's a laundry list of things that annoyed me about urbs' move from UF to osu, but I'm mostly over it. Still some irritation, but the dude won 2 MNCs and 2 SECCs for the Orange and Blue.

I still say we should wait a few years to see if he gets the coaching itch again. And we should tell him that's the reason for the delay. If he can't understand that concept, then he's thinking more about himself than the fan base.

We dont tolerate garbage HCs.

It would probably be different if Zook, Chump and Butters didnt fail quickly at their next job and validate that they sucked.

That's the second thing Gator fans need to get over. The ridiculously misguided hatred for Mike Bianchi.

Did he beat up your mother?

There are few if any scribes better qualified to intone on UF football than my old cohort.

After the Zooker beat the Puppies in 2002, he wrote an outstanding column on how if the Puppies couldn't beat the Gators with the Zooker, they'd never beat us. Well, that's a bit of hyperbole, but after we beat them again in 2003 under the Zooker, he wrote a similar column, just a bit more emphatic. A lot of Gators despise him, and some of his columns do seem to be anti-Gator, but he's written his share of pro-Gator articles, too. If nothing else, I find him pretty entertaining.

Well, this is somewhat true. He does write that we think we are "entitled," and living here in GA, I find that viewpoint pure BS. You want to find a fan base that feels that they are "entitled"? Move here. Ever since Lindsey Scott and Herschel Walker, Georgia fans think that they should be the national champs EVERY year, and it's only gotten worse since Smart took over (given how they've lost their shots at the NC the past two years, I don't think he's that "Smart"). Elsewhere on this board I've written, quite some time ago, how so many members of my family are Dogs (no, I'll never spell it with an "a" and a "w"), from my younger son to my brother in law, who played for them. I hate to root against my family (esp since my brother in law is not well), but their fan base feels so entitled, I want the Dogs to come ever so close every year, and then never reach the pinnacle.

For us Gators, that process for 2019 starts with beating the 'Cocks today, UGA beating the Wildcats this evening, setting up a titanic matchup in Jax, and then our guys chomping them and ruining their dreams on November 2.

The more attractive and progressive you, the better your odds of ESPN employment. Just can’t go too crazy - they did fire Jemelle Hill for being too extreme. Or insubordination.

?? Too extreme attractive??

I think now is a good time to inform several of you that my posts in this thread were significantly laced with sarcasm.

Laced with your brand of snarkasm. ?
