Wow I guess that is what two decades of mediocrity does to a program. We were close to getting into that territory. Hope they give Pruitt a 10 year extension and a raise.
I could absolutely find you hundreds posts of our people posting the exact same shyt under the last two regimes after blowout losses.

We had people here claiming moral victories under Butters and Chimp bc we kept it close for a quarter or two... or bc we scored one TD vs Trailerbammer or Clowntown instead of zero.

They were "seeing progress".

At no point were we ever 2-5, and winless over our chief rivals for most of the last decade, while simultaneously saying it was 3-4(more) year rebuild. I get “seeing progress “ being subjective and having different definitions to different people. But even the notion of not going to a bowl one time was enough to get 90% of this board on the fire WM train. And even that year we’d beaten the vols.

Boys, I think we found Alvie.

Our Vols took the #1 team in the country to the final minutes of the game. The O-line manhandled the Alabama defense. The offense sustained long drives. The defense held the mighty Bama offense in check. This team is starting to come together. They are tough, hungry and young. Alabama, the SEC, and the rest of college football are now on notice. We are coming for you, we are not backing down.

bamuh fan at work mentioned they're playing some freshmen on the DL. Not sure that "manhandled the defense" is a legit indication of the future, but let them dream...

And two true freshmen ILBs.

of course the question is how you getting that position with the recruiting they've had and The maxed-out rosters.

Of course I suppose if Siler had gotten hurt in 2006, we would have played true freshman Brandon Spikes.

The entire volnation is full of Alvies. I lived amongst them in East Tennessee for 6 years and they are just as delusional in real life as they are on their boards.

Pruitt commented in his presser that they'd be better next year when they have a full roster (i think they have 80 this year). At least he gets it.

I've read a number of articles saying Butch Jones left Pruitt a complete dumpster fire. Those kids had it easy under him. Pruitt came in and acted like a hard nosed coach. Things did not go well. He is trying to establish a disciplined environment. Players don't like it. Pruitt might have been a good coach under better circumstances. If all the articles are true, this was an impossible job for a first time head coach.

The fanbase says that about every new coach. He has to clean up the last coach's mess.

I agree. Mullen had the same problem when he got here. Mullen got the guys to buy in. Unlike with Butter, players actually showed up to work out. It comes down to whether a head coach can lead. I don't think Pruitt can.

After Tennessee made a good drive Guantanamera fumbled on a quarterback sneak at the goal line and an Alabama defensive player picked up the ball and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown in the opposite direction. If Tenessessee had pushed it in the score would have been 28 to 20; instead it went to 35 to 13. Maybe Pruitt just had about all he could take out of Guarantano. He chewed out Guarantano when he came back to the sideline and yanked his helmet grabbing his facemark. Jeremy was pissed. Maybe taking a knee on the last play was a way to embarrass his team or maybe it was a way of celebrating a moral victory by holding Alabama to 35. I don't know.

I read that to my wife, who laughed out loud. Holy Christ, that is one of the most embarrassing threads in the history of sports message boards.

It has rejuvenated my hate for them.

I guess those bricks that Butch was using were made of paper mache. Champions of Life only gets you so far.

That play was not a called sneak. You don't chew out ur QB for running the play you called. Plus if you saw the sky cam it was a run to the left. The RB is standing there like WTF.
