Interesting thought.

As terrible as he was with recruiting (and make no mistake - he was horrible) - he was one of the only D1 schools to offer Trask.

Trask is now showing that he's a legitimate SEC caliber QB.. and nobody else noticed him.

So.. I give sharkboy THIS MUCH credit. Now, about that offensive line....

You’re a brave soul. I salute you for that. Now, I’m getting away from the incoming fire.

Trask is a once in a lifetime. Signing a 2 star QB to play at Fl. is not a good idea and would likely be a failure 99% of the time.

Recruiting Trask was probably the only good thing Butters did for the team. Of course, if other D1 schools had wanted Trask we wouldn't have gotten him.

Trask wanted to come to UF. He basically recruited himself here. The way I see it is that sharkf+cker signed Trask because he needed another QB, Trask was available, and literally no one else wanted to come play for him.

McElwain bombed on every other QB prospect with a pulse and had nothing to lose by offering Trask. No matter how hard I try, I can’t think of one nice thing to say about Butter Teeth.

It wasn't Beastiality Boy who recruited him it was Nusswigger. McElwain only agreed to it because we were desperate for depth due to his own lack of recruiting and his driving good QBs away from the program. Nusswigger, the story goes, found this kid because he had been a deacon in Pastor Trasks' church and recruited him not only because Pastor Trask vouched for his son, but because their wives had a Hobby Lobby/Chick-Fil-A connection. In other words, we totally lucked out.

I would see 2 and 3* QBs light it up at other programs these last 10 years and wonder why the hell that our 4-5* guys can't seem to read a blitz when there's 9 defenders at the line of scrimmage and everyone on earth can see it coming.

Perhaps this is just the law of averages working out in our favor for once. Perhaps there's something to be said about patience and hard work. Full credit goes to Trask for never giving up and staying the course.

This. Nuessmeir had somebody he knew in Texas recommend he look at Trask....and because of colossal failures by Butters we took a flyer on Trask. Hell, we took FIU bound Ancrum, Houston bound Stiner, and several other G5/FCS level kids...why not take Trask?

Don't forget

EDDIE!
EDDIE!
EDDIE!

Mac never let Eddie try to kick a field goal longer than 50 yards. There were lots of opportunities to let Eddie have a shot at a record, but selling barbecue sauce was a higher priority. Of course, if Mac had stayed Trask never would have developed.
