that's still drastically better than where we are now. It's no doubt not the only factor but we pay about half the stipend that FSU, UT Jr or even Central. I'd be surprised if we're in the top 50 today.

Nothing changed the day after that wasn't true the day before. Trailerbammer was paying $200,000 to a high school coach for a high three-star tackle in the 90s. Travis Carroll was given an SUV. Every player gets a expensive sports car or Cadillac Escalade now, their parents get houses, their fathers sell fake lawn businesses for half a MM.

We currently give half of the stipend ($7000) and the name of a friendly used scooter dealer.

We have more alumni and business opportunities. We certainly won't be coming in behind directional schools. If nothing else the kids can sell signed photographs, jerseys, footballs whatever. We will sell a lot more than directional schools.
Finally, leaving FIU and USF in the dust!

This money is going to be outside of title IX I would think since it is private dollars.

Puh-lease....You really think that will happen? Why do women soccer players want what the men make when the men generate 50X more revenue? You know it will happen....#slippery slope.....#nocomingback....#olympics?....

Before it was done behind closed doors and kept quiet. Now punks will be flaunting all their bling to their less-talented teammates. It’s going to be a disaster for team morale.
sounds like high school now.............

If they’re getting paid for their likeness in their school’s gear, then they better be paying a cut to the school. What’s a fair amount...20%?

agreed. They should set it at a conference level though.

See how it works is, the school sells a jersey with Kyle Trask's name on it. UF gets a portion of the money, as does Trask. UF's portion doesn't come from Trask. Herp derp.

I’m guessing by the time this all gets hashed out, in a situation like Sas mentions above, the money is placed in some collective pool and evenly distributed to players. To me, I’m ok with something like that. If we’re clamoring that “it’s not fair”, then we shouldn’t adopt something that immediately isn’t any more fair and merely increase the portion of “haves” while the “have nots” still remain.

Make it equitable, ensuring that all college football players get something to fall back on in addition to one of those useless degree thingys.

Senator Burr of NC is introducing a bill to apply income tax to athletic scholarships. Sounds about right now.
