So since they "only" won by 7 he's still a bad coach? Got it. That's the excuse now?
Reminder: we're a missed 'gimme' FG by Kentucky from having 3 losses.
Maybe it's just me not watching carefully, but I didn't see any of those on the field today.I'm sure I'm missing a bunch.

And that's what makes it so frustrating. 2 weeks to prepare and look at the two teams. That's coaching. So what - Kirby outcoached until they got to the red zone and **** the bed? There’s a very real possibility they don’t score a TD without a BS review. And that’s with a crazy 3rd down conversion %.
Of all people you should appreciate the difference in talent yet they needed an extremely difficult 3rd and 7 pass (flatfooted, dude hitting him) to a TE to close it out. Sorry, not impressed. They were incredibly clean, had nothing go against them, etc., we were sloppy has hell, and they won by 7.
Yup, your absolutely right - and the truth only hurts when it should. After this game, the honeymoon is pretty much over. The team played their hearts outs - the coaches straight up shat the bed.
The Trask designed run needs to stop, it worked against Kentucky, it hasn't worked since. Just let trask sling it 35-40 times a game now and see what happens. The running game is non existent, so like others have mentioned, why wasted a down trying to do something that will fail. We need to be like 75/25 pass to run now.
This quote, which led to me being questioned as mid-day drunk (fair assessment btw), proved sadly true (though not from the Star position)
Separately, I can’t think of a game in my life where my team gets the ball down 2 TDs in the 4th quarter, scores a TD, yet I feel worse about our chances to win.
Our 2 year inability to move quickly when needed and understand the game clock cannot be blamed on Franks any longer. The clock management problem is at the top.
It’s not even complicated. If we could just get a 12 year old good at math to help at end of half clock situations, it would be a massive improvement.
Some (Swain, Pitts, Trask) certainly did, but obviously not all. The players did however acquit themselves honorably against a clearly superior team. The coaches - not so much. Incidentally, I tried to think of somebody on defense who really distinguished themselves, and pretty much drew a blank. So upon further reflection, I can see where you're coming from. I'm trying to take some solace in the fact that we didn't just roll over and quit or commit a ton of stupid turnovers like we have on numerous occasions in the not too distant past.I agree about the coaches, but "played their hearts outs"? That's not my perception.
Yep, when we scored, I knew our D was not going to get a stop.
So, one first down and the games over. Tell me why we didn't onside kick.
Since coming back from his injury Marco is afraid to tackle. He'd be a star on our touch football team.
Considering Trask was always under pressure and Ugay played the pass on virtually every play I think Trask did a great job. Like the fumbles in the Auburn game, the sacks were caused by a lack of experience. This is fixable. We won't compete for championships until we have championship lines. This can't be fixed without championship level recruiting.
Reason #1 on why Cousin Eddie was #2 on my "Do NOT Hire" Coaching list: Lack of Game Management skills!
So, one first down and the games over. Tell me why we didn't onside kick.
Perhaps they could get a stop but certainly not a 3 and out. We used almost 7 minutes of clock on the last drive.... We were letting the playclock tick down to under 10 after almost every play. There was no sense of urgency down 14 in the 4th quarter. We did the EXACT same thing down 14 at lsu and just ended up not being able to score. That drive was also 6-7 minutes and we were going to have to kick an onside if we score. Inexplicably bad clock management from Mullen.
Same. When he was hired I hated it, HATED it. But then last year and the first half of this year made me wonder if I was a bit too harsh on him when we originally hired him, but now? After yesterdays performance? I'm back to realizing that I hated the Dan hire for a reason. He's a good at best head coach who has surrounded himself with above average at best assistants. We could use a replacement for every single assistant on the team and on paper immediately upgrade at every spot.I hated the Mullen hire. Absolutely hated it, but tried to come on board and hope he could overcome the recruiting and poor assistant coach hiring. The progress seemed to be there in a number of places. But, this back to back lack of game understanding down two scores has me back to despondent about our long term prospects. It’s just a reminder that he is the guy we thought he was.
This will last 6-7 years with a lot of 10-2, maybe squeaking into the SEC championship game if our better opponents are having a down year (exactly how Richt won his too).
The stubbornness of his play calling is insane. If he refuses to change the offense to the best weapon we’ve had on offense in year, we might actually be more effective with EJ.
It is crazy, but Trask is our best offensive player, as a HS backup, since Tebow.
It makes no sense to not onside kick there. We're not worried about field position, all they're doing is running out the clock. So we squib kick it 30 yards downfield where there's no chance of recovering it rather than 10 yards. Even if they get the onside kick, you still have the one shot to stop them with a three-and-out. It was an insane decision. So, one first down and the games over. Tell me why we didn't onside kick.
