PE, I just want you to go on record for what is an acceptable season and what is not. Is it just making the tournament? Sweet 16?

Or is missing the tournament and flying high into the NIT going to be okay?

Set some parameters so we know where you're coming from.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON on this board "supports the team", so quit playing that card. Losing to FSU six years in a row is unacceptable and you KNOW it.

Making the tournament is the baseline for an acceptable season.

Winning one tournament game, to 32, is a plus.

Sweet 16 is a good season. Everything above that is increasingly better, exponentially so at each step.

A conference championship is a good season.

A conference tournament championship is a fun plus.

Beating Kentucky is a big deal. Beating Ut is just the way things ought to be. Beating f$u is apparently not a priority at all.

It's some mutant variation of the dribble drive miss offense. But we have to have at least 5 passes...even Norman Dale thinks this offense sucks.

I see that Coach Whitey admitted he did an awful job coaching offense. First time I have heard him admit it. I have no confidence he knows how to fix it.

Well I have heard the the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, so congrats to Mike. He has only been a terrible half court offensive basketball coach since he has been here. It is not whether they make shots or miss shots, it is about what he installs in trying to get those said shots. Standing and watching is usually not a recipe to getting a good shot. But I appreciate him owning up to his problem. Not sure how many steps are in this type of recovery but he has achieved step 1. Congrats Mike.

To those of you who know basketball better than I. Is this really that hard? Step one. Move the fricking ball. Set screens. Drive, then throw it to the open guy. None of that includes the more complicated subtle stuff.

I would love to think this is just an early season meshing problem, but we've seen it before and we're seeing it again.

You work for the dept of education so the fact that you don't know a shyt show when you see one isn't all that surprising.
FTR I never worked for the shttt show called DOE. And your personal attack is not surprising.
White had a bunch of 4 star and some 5 star players on the Roster in his first year and 2 players who made it in the NBA.

Donovan inherited a Roster with 0 players that made an NBA roster. I went to every home game in those last 2 Lon Kruger years. I don't think you realize how miserable it was.
Those star players were young and some left. The great center we were all agog over and he was a bust. But year two he had them in the elite 8. Pretty good for a 2nd yr coach. I agree it was miserable with Lon at the end. He discovered a FF run didnt translate to 5 stars. I appreciate your civlity TNS. Donovan was a great coach. He looked mortal at first and had lots of detractors. The team with Lee and the other guys underachieved according to many fans but the 04s washed that taste away quickly. A few yrs ago when Egbunu was healty we looked like a FF team and the it died with his injury. I may be wrong about MW. But he finally got some great young players (never a gauruntee) and some others to go with them. If I bail after the first loss I am not the fan that started with Neal Walk and Andy Owens. I love basketball. My favorite sport. Played a gazillion games in all kinds of places. I look forward to this team finding its way and playing together. Their worst fault was the expectations of the media and then they buy in from all the fans.

Also, I hate basketball. Stupid sport for non-football worshping idiots. #cancelallothersports

Glad to see that you have changed your strategy this year.
Last year you tried defending White by creating false accomplishments and ignoring the programs history.
This year you have progressed to mocking and ridiculing those that complain which is quite an improvement for you.
Although I agree that some of the comments are way over the top I understand the frustration.
You see this is what happens when a coach (Billy Donovan not Mike White) takes a program beyond any realistic expectations. Unfortunately people begin to expect those accomplishments to be the standard.
You may think that is unrealistic but apparently the UAA has the same expectations since they tripled the booster contributions 3 seasons ago.
So who’s being unrealistic?

And I will agree with him when he says it.
The team is soft just like their coach

but it's up to the coaches to get them fired up

As others have repeated repeatedly, the stand around offense is shockingly bad. MJ's stand back and watch teammates from the pre-Phil Jackson Bulls think we stand around too much.

But, they didn't play soft. We held the dickheads from tally to only 20 something first half points and did not let the poor shooting impact defense (which is tough with freshmen and sophomores). The new guys (transfer and frosh) seemed to play harder and less soft than the old guys. That is concerning.

So we are back to saying that Donovan left the cupboard bare right before we praise White for going to the elite eight with the bare cupboard Donovan left him.
That makes sense

I've always saw White's offense as a pickup game behind the school after school.

I agree we shouldn't bail, I just don't like what im seeing. I didn't like the extension and I said its because I really want to see how this year goes. I agree that 1 game does not decide that... But if we end up being a bubble team this year in combination with another early exit, white should be on the hot seat, and changes should be considered. This team has really good players.

If the offensive product on display is any indication of what's in store, we may well be #6...in the SEC. Certainly that part has to get better, but not being able to score sounds familiar of late. To lay an egg against a fierce rival for the sixth straight year is absurd. I'm all for good defense, but I'm ready for a complete and consistent team. We looked more like the University of Florida Brick Masons. It's like Paul Silas is our shooting coach. Something needs to change.

When experts look at your talent and say you are the 6th best team in the country, winning only one tournament game is big pile of schit, not a big plus.

Don't we have an assistant coach who can help White when he gets that sad 5 y/o look on his face and seems to just panic and freeze?
