We didn't have any timeouts the last possession. I'm more interested in why KJ had a wide open 3 and decided to pump fake, put the ball on the floor, and throw it away.
We did on the Nembhard turnaround. We called the last one after the foul and 1 made FT

Well, a loss can be a solid teaching outing. So gang, what lessons is White gonna teach our elite boys? Lots of teaching moments.
My positive spin on the ball:
1) Most solid = Payne gonna be good O & D. Just needs lots of playing time with his teammates looking for him inside.
2) Believe it or not, I thought Jitiboh was more useful than others. I thought he was a stanchion underneath. No mistakes.
3) Nembhard was better last season.
4) Locke's shooting is terrible. Can he get it back?
5) Johnson underperformed.
6) Blackshear needs some protection from fouls. Payne & Jitiboh ought to be wisely inserted with Blackshear noting to not overextend himself and let them do some of the banging. Like use teamwork.
7) Gak finally ran on the boards. Will he develop or will he be too shy physically?
8) Looks to me like this team has low BBall IQ.??
9) We got our hopes up too high too soon.

I'll still watch them Gators every chance I get. We gotta stop hyper-clanging layups. And their IQ isn't there for feeding the inside cutter - in fact, each guy that does the give and go should be rewarded by getting fed the ball.

I think Mike will go back to his reference material

And by mid season after he does an extensive review we'll be decent.

Very disappointing thus far. Underachieving and look disorganized and unsure most of the time. Pathetic shooting and more turnovers than assist. I still watch all gator sports whenever I ca, but I was expecting much more from this year's BB team that what I've seen so far.

Somebody --- like a coach, should go over individual shooting mechanics. While White's at it, buy that dead-eye free-throw tutor's videos and apply that film study to our players. Don't let them practice free-throws as if that's silly, do nothing slackadaisically.

The only reason white had any fanboys left at the beginning of this year was because we got one lucky 20 foot floater that sent us to the elite 8 one year. Nevermind that we choked that game away so bad at the end to even be in that situation, and then choked another game away in the last 5 minutes against an average south Carolina team to miss the final 4 (like we almost always do to Frank Martin, fsu, and any similar teams that play physical). That's it. One year of "success" where we choked and played stall ball in the last 5 minutes of our two biggest games and had a lucky 3 point floater bail us out of one of the two.

I was very impressed with this recruiting class and thought maybe I was wrong to have a lukewarm feeling about him... But Jesus, we aren't going to have a team with more talent than this one.

The fact that we will be struggling to get into the tournament with between 3-5 future NBA players on our roster is QUITE concerning. I don't want to hear about how "young" we are anymore either. Nembhard, Locke, and KJ were some of our best players last year.

I hope we make some miraculous turnaround. If it doesn't happen soon then it will be too late because we will be watching the NIT in March.

PE says the team needs at least 5 years to gel.

Recruit can’t coach
Coach can’t recruit

can’t we have both

Optimistic view: the last time we lost in Storrs, we ripped off 30 straight wins and went to the Final Four. More on-topic: Nembhard nearly single-handedly brought us back to win this one down the stretch with clutch baskets and steady FTs. Very Wilbekin-esque. If he builds on this, we'll be better for it.

Pessimistic view: damn near everything. The players have plenty of blame (multiple turnovers, tons of indecision, missed shots, and a missed opportunity)...but this is 2 straight seasons of outright horrible offense to start the year and there should be no question that this year's team has NBA caliber talent all over the floor...so the common denominator there is White. I'm not one to blame everything on the coaches, but the evidence isn't looking good right now that White is the answer.

Realist view: we will be unranked by this time next week and that's what we deserve at this point. The players and coaches need to take a step back and see who we are and what we want to do/where we want to be and figure it out the next 3 weeks before conference play starts. Good teams with good coaches find their way out of early holes. TBD...

The kids shot well before they got here. They must be wound too tight or the practices don't allow enough time perfecting their shots. Of course layups are even difficult for us. Coach needs to evaluate himself, something needs to change.
