It made a big difference in Tua's prognosis that there was an orthopedic surgeon present who was able to immediately reduce his hip dislocation right there on the field. The prognosis is much better with prompt versus delayed reduction of a hip dislocation.
They didn't reduce it on the field. It was in the locker room and involved a lot of people. Probably 6-7. Maybe 5 to wrap a sheet around his leg to pull and a couple more that were pulling the other way, probably with sheets wrapped around his torso. And I'm guessing he was knocked out.

I've had 3 dislocations in my life and if he was awake for a hip dislocation he's the toughest SOB on the planet and should be the #1 draft pick.

I should have said "stadium" and not "field". The key to reduction of a shoulder or hip is to get the person sedated relaxed, and given something for pain. That way the reduction doesn't require as much traction and counter-traction, pulling and tugging. In an ideal situation it is less about force and more about proper technique.

i always tried to get the supply clerk to do that for me... she never agreed.
Yeah, that always gets you in trouble. Had a little problem with a supply clerk, and I wasn't even the one causing the problem with her, it was the supply sgt. Some how the top figured I was involved anyway (bc I was there at a party when the fight started) and deserved to be in the dog house too.

my first response was going to be - I think I'd rather have a tick. Then I thought - Damn find a mirror.
 We had a full length mirror like the kind you hang on a door, but we put it on the coffee table and straddled it.

No, you didn’t but you also only threw out your military experience. Wasn’t a tough assumption.

And I’m not @t-gator. Just because @oxrageous hurt your feelings with “son” doesn’t mean you need to throw it around the rest of the day.
Shore Tour isn't really military - that's Navy talk (basically, they're Homeland Security).

Uber for the Marines.
