:scratchhead: Apparently you think I am that interesting because not only did you read my “middle of the road candidates” post but you also replied to it...literally right before you replied to my post with your stupid comment about Urban Meyer. Man you need to seek help.
:lmao2:

I have no idea what you're babbling about.

you stated that a good coach wouldn't care about a short leash because they trust their abilities. my response was that Urban would be very selective in his choice, meaning that he wouldn't go to a place like FSU because they suck and he could be on a hot seat.

FSU isn’t devoid of talent, they’ve consistently pulled in better recruiting classes than we have the past several years. And Willie wasn’t fired because some crazed, quick tempered boosters made a rash decision. He was fired because he was ATROCIOUS and it was obvious to everybody that he’d be just as bad in year 5 as he was in year 2...therefore, there was no reason to wait.

By the way, Ron Zook lasted less than one season longer than Willie did. The fact that Zook got a short lease didn’t scare Urban from taking the job. Try and keep up.

they have no oline and no QB, yeah Urbs is jumping all over that roster.

Zook got fired for fighting with a frat. Off the field stuff. I’m sure Foley and the boosters were tempted to keep him if not for that. Off the field stuff will get you clipped way quicker

Also losing to Miss St after they had lost to a then Div 1AA Maine team earlier in the 2004 season then lost to UAB prior to Miss St beating UF. It felt like the entire media kissed Sylvester Croom's rear that week for Croom's first ever SEC win. It was then pretty much the most embarrassing moment in Gator football during the Zook era.

Zook got fired for being a crappy 4-5 loss per season coach. He sucked. The one bringing Urban into the conversation to support his stupid position is you. I never said anything about Urban until only after you brought him up, and I did so as it relates to a short lease to show that you’re wrong on that point, too. You’ve got to be the most illogical bozo on this board. Sober up you big dummy!

If you think that the frat house brawl between him and his players and some fraternity had nothing to do with his removal from the job you've clearly drank more than the guy in the emote.

Right.

That shyt is embarrassing for an AD/University President to deal with and have to explain, right up there with Mike Price and his strippers deal after he took the Bama job, or Petrino banging his intern

Thought this was an interesting and funny story. This is from the most recent "On The Bench" podcast. Newberg and company said Chris Nee followed Jimbo Fisher the day he left. Jimmy Sexton was in the parking lot. As soon as Fisher left Thrasher's office, Sexton walked in to negotiate wiLLLLLLLLLLLLie's contract. That's how fast they hired wiLLLLLLLLLLLLie.

As for the next coach, Newberg's prediction is either Haggins or Mark Stoops. I prefer Haggins. I think Stoops gets fsu competitive.

its haggins' to lose. the fan base, current and former players have all rallied. almost makes me want a semi-competitive game next week to solidify it because they will continue to suck with that old fool in charge.

I remember a fan at a nudie bar yells "Roll Tide" while Mike Price responds by saying "it's rollin baby, it's rollin."

The guy was homeless 20 years ago (frankly he looks homeless now). Has that old bastard ever had a head coaching job ever, even in Pop Warner?

I swear he's the guy I see laying against the side of the building when I pump gas.

To say they would be taking an enormous risk in hiring him is a huge understatement. You don't let the players pick the head coach unless you want a disaster.

Sober up and don’t attribute comments to me I didn’t make. The other drunk has done that for 5-6 posts and looks more foolish each time he does so. Was the frat house episode possibly a minor secondary reason...sure and I never said otherwise. However, the primary reason was because he was a 4-5 loss per season coach and as Zook himself acknowledged there was “noise in the system”.

You want to know another reason why Zook was fired when he was...so we could get the jump on hiring Urban Meyer. That’s a much bigger reason than the frat house situation, likely a smokescreen to some degree, ever was.

agree, but there's even money on him being the guy now. every halfassu fan i know is screaming for him to be the guy and all the current and former players are all over social media pushing for him.

considering the mess the school is in, and how worthless the AD and pres are, this move makes a hell of a lot of sense to me. if it blows up in their faces they can just say that they gave the guy a chance because all the fans and players wanted him, and if you disagree, you're a racist

quit telling everyone to sober up as you drunk post from your living room couch. i read the back and forth, and when alcy mentioned that frat incident playing a part in the firing you wanted no part of it, doubling down on it being his record and nothing more. dont backtrack now.

How many career position coaches are successful jumping straight to a head coach job? And his first crack at it will be at fsu, not some smaller school. The chances of him being good are slim to none.
