Finally finished 247's "On The Bench" podcast with Newberg. Here is his rundown on the coaching search,

1. They can get Haggins or Stoops anytime they want if they make the hire before the season is over.

2. If no announcement is made until after the season, it means they are making a a run at a coach they know they can;t get right now.

3. Matt Campbell - According to the people he has talked to, Campbell has turned down better jobs than fsu. It is unlikely he leaves right now.

4. James Franklin's name keeps being brought up. Newberg thinks it is unlikely. If he leaves Penn St., it is for USC.

5. Matt Rhule's name was brought up. Seems to like it at Baylor. Has an enormous buyout.

6. PJ Fleck's name was brought up, but viewed as unlikely due to him signing a new contract as soon as the fsu job opened up. Plus, he is viewed as a Mike Leach type that is scaring people off.

7. Mike Norvell's name was talked about. All Newberg would say is that he didn't want to get sued. There are serious issues in his background that scare the shyte out of people.

In his opinion, right now, it is Mark Stoops or Odell Haggins as the next head coach.
Quite the step down from Big Game Bob and Urban

I’m convinced now it’ll be Haggins.

Mark Stoops may be leveraging this F$U job opening for a bigger contract and an extension from Kentucky. He’d be a fool not to.

I’m all for a good thread hijacking, but this little pissing contest is ruining one of the great threads in GCMB history.

This year we get a whole extra week to focus our hatred on FSU...while they are in shambles.

Let us not waste this opportunity. Focus gentlemen.

Alex.
Thank you.

"Zook got fired for fighting with a frat." - Alcy

You.

Does he need to say "and other stuff" to be right? You sure didnt. You went on and on about how he was wrong and you were right. He got fired for a bunch of reasons, both of those included... as you just admitted a few posts ago, which means you were... wait for it... wrong...

You left out the part where Alcy said had the frat house issue not occurred Zook most likely would have been retained...in other words, Alcy said his crummy record as a coach was irrelevant. So let me get this straight, though. Because Alcy for all intents & purposes said Zook wouldn’t have been fired for on field performance issues and was fired for frat house situation, he’s not wrong..but I said over the course of 2 posts that the frat house incident may have been a secondary issue but performance, among other things like getting the jump on pursuing Urban were bigger issues, I’m wrong because I said it in 2 separate posts. Gee, you make perfect sense. :rolleyes3:

If you think that the frat house brawl between him and his players and some fraternity had nothing to do with his removal from the job you've clearly drank more than the guy in the emote.

So using your own logic, because you only referenced the frat house fight as a reason for his firing and you didn’t specifically mention other issues like wins and losses in your first post on the matter then that makes you...wait for it...wrong.

:bwahaha:

Welp, I think I’ve made my point. I think I’ll go watch paint dry on the wall. I believe it will be more mentally stimulating than this exercise in futility.

so?

but I said over the course of 2 posts that the frat house incident may have been a secondary issue
those 2 posts occurred well after you denied anything other than wins/losses being the reason, so yea, that makes you wrong. And its hard to argue otherwise since you are now saying it played a part.

So using your own logic, because you only referenced the frat house fight as a reason for his firing and you didn’t specifically mention other issues like wins and losses in your first post on the matter then that makes you...wait for it...wrong.
No, not at all. My exact statement was in response to your impassioned denial of anything other than wins/losses being the reason. If you had made any attempt to acknowledge that the frat thing played a part at the beginning of this discussion, we wouldn't be having it.

Here are my exact words:
"If you think that the frat house brawl between him and his players and some fraternity had nothing to do with his removal from the job you've clearly drank more than the guy in the emote."

Now why would I make a statement like that if you had
1) acknowledged it played a part to start with?
2) find me where that equates to me saying it was ONLY the frat incident.

Alcy is wrong if he thinks that it was the only reason for the firing. Just as wrong as you for claiming it was only wins/losses. A narrative you later changed because it was ridiculous and I know you dont truly believe. Carry on.

My wife tells me im wrong all the time. Shes probably right.

Truthfully i wouldn't even have responded but one disagreement and out come the insults and drunk insinuations. So I figured Id keep going. It's hard to not continue to poke when someone gets instantly triggered by something stupid. It's a character flaw

How epic would it be for a coach at a bb school to turn down f$u?

Zook : frat house :: Butters : death threats

Both were going to be fired, accelerated through stupidity.

its haggins' to lose. the fan base, current and former players have all rallied. almost makes me want a semi-competitive game next week to solidify it because they will continue to suck with that old fool in charge.
We need the old Rope A Dope (let them score late and get it within one score so the fanbase is happy with a moronic coach).

He’d be like Larry Coker. Both took over for a legend. Both failed. And yes, WiLLLLLLLie will always be a legend to me. What he did for the FSU football program is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.
There ya go!!!
