Yeah we’ll see...I’m very cautious about this game being burned so often the past 10 years

Having grown up in the 80s and 90s, this game will always be a concern. No different than uga. But the one thing that brings me some measure of comfort is that it's not really an upset-prone rivalry. The better team generally wins, and usually by an amount that's expected. I'd say the last true upset was either them in '98 or us in '97.

So yeah, we've been burned over the past decade. But I can't think of any game over that stretch that I felt going in we were the better team, except of course, last year. We had better players and coaches from '05-'09, and they returned the favor from '10-'17(with 12 being somewhat a 50-50). If we approach this game with the right mindset, we should be fine.

I’m honestly more concerned with the way we come out in these games especially this season starting so slow and flat...we could get in a hole quick

I'd categorize our win in 2004 as our last upset.

2004 win was outstanding and it began a six year win streak; but, in deference to our Captain S, 2004 was not as much an upset as it was a payback at doak for the previous years swindle by acc refs in the swamp.

Drastically different circumstances now, but yes, I agree that line is high. I’d have felt better if they still had WT simply because I think they would have quit by now. Haggins may not be a real head coach, and is reportedly homeless, but the players want him, so I have no doubt they’ll play hard.

I agree completely.
FSU is still pretty dysfunctional but they at least seem to be playing a little harder than they did for Willie.
I don't think UF will be able to count on FSU's players quitting in the second quarter as they were earlier this season.

Hopefully Zu and Greenard will both be fully healthy and will live in their backfield all game long. Their o-line is still terrible, probably worse than ours. We shouldn't have a problem getting pressure and stuffing their run. Be nice to see us run the ball with some consistency on them, they've had problems all year stopping the run.

A lot of people were hang wringing last year because they thought FSU would show up with a bowl appearance on the line. :lmao2:
I’ll be the first to admit that I was. They had a lot of talent and the bowl was a motivator. They should’ve been ready to play. That game is a great counterargument to anyone who says coaching isn’t an important factor in wins and losses.

I just hope we aren't watching film of rock-bottom FSU. I'd love us to hold them to a goose egg -- 0.
Want domination O & D.
How much fire & brimstone for this rivalry do y'all think Trask will have?

ZERO on the scoreboard, negative yards rushing and double digits passing at most.

Trask has been here for years of embarrassment, I'm sure he'd love to win one against them like this. However, he seems to mild mannered to have much 'fire & brimstone' in him, IMO.

Literally no one says that. Literally.
It was an exaggeration but there are certainly many who feel its secondary. You could argue that great recruits generally concentrate around great coaching which would add nuance to the “teams with higher average recruiting classes win 82.6% of the time” argument.

Probably more cold-blooded determination than sturm und drang. Think "baby faced assassin" rather than raging Jap charging into a Marine MG emplacement.
