8:30 Sunday night ESPN.
Fingers crossed as this should be a double-digit win.
Xavier is similar in potency to U Conn.
X can't measure up to UF in height. They got us beat in experience though (as all teams will this year.)
FG% = 41% ..... FG% 3s = 27% ..... FT% = 66.4%
They rebound well ave = 40 rpg.
2 top scorers = Marshall ... 16 ppg and Jones ... 14ppg.
The rest of the team average less than 7.

We need this game to get some national respectability back. This is the first ranked team we've played and, hopefully, we can play like we did against Miami, or better.

I want our boys to play loose and hard and use this to continue getting their confidence back. Somehow I think the road helps them focus better because its just them as a team and the game. AT home they have too many distractions (friends> girl friends)

I realize Xavier is 6-0, but they padded their schedule with crap. We’d be 6-0 too with that schedule. Still, they will be a tourney team come march. Beating them looks good.

We should first focus on beating them at the O end and at the D end.
Individual Gators should improve on how they made mistakes, even ones that go unnoticed =like not passing it to a "back-door" streaker, not passing it to Payne when he just passed you a give & go. Too many plays missed by "self-stoppage".Position for rebound & sharp shooters, try to see a rebounder is near the basket.

Blackshear : get 20-25 (pad your resume')
KJohnson :get 17
Locke : hit your zone get 15
Nembhard : get 14
Payne, Lewis 10 each.
That gets us near 80. Keep developing for the SEC and March Madness.
No backsliding will show this collection of Gators is different in much better ways.

Every Gator have winning fun tonight, on-court, courtside or tv. --- 8:30 ESPN. GROW GATORS!

Assist to turnover ratio is the key. It's been bad until the Miami game. Movement without the ball creates open lanes and then passers have to make good passes. And we can't be sloppy with the ball, allowing dumb turnovers.

Mann should be back tonight as well. He was cleared. I dont expect a full allotment of minutes for him first game back though

Xavier looks very athletic and appeared to have a deep bench Friday as they lost 4-5 guys to fouls.

Should be a good test for us to see if real progress is being made.

ESPN’s BPI gives us a 72% chance to win. I don’t know if that’s anything like the almighty talent composite in football, but I like our chances.

Im glad our boys finally began ignoring that loser of a coach and began playing their own style..............coaching is over rated in college hoops anyway. Just get a few diaper dandies together and let them run................

xavier is a very good team with a win against a team that beat us. Each of those losses were one score games; so we have the potential for an outstanding game this evening. If the Gators play a full game like the um second half, we can run away with it. But xavier is more talented and athletic than um and maybe the best team we have played. The Gators put a "W" in the column tonight and all will be good in this small portion of Gatorland until Saturday.

I can understand why peeps is frustrated. But before we fire coach White for running slow tempo, let’s keep in mind that only 1 of the last 6 national champions ranked in the top 100 (2017 UNC) in tempo, and last years champion, UVA, was the slowest team in the nation.

This is a good read, for better or worse:
Florida basketball: Making sense of Mike White and Florida’s abysmal start

There’s no doubt that we should be pushing after turnovers, but that could come after this team gels in their roles.

Let’s face it, White has maximized our finishes with the given talent he’s had. Now that he’s got the roster loaded, let’s see how it plays out.

The issue is 350 teams are faster than us. No one is asking to be top 100 or top 50. Just respectable tempo wise would go a long ways imo

I agree we we should and could pick it up some, but this article was written after 4 games. The numbers are probably already moved.

UVA was dead last and their fans were crying for years that they wouldn’t get over the hump. Defense wins tournaments.

It isn't the tempo that is the problem. UVA was slow but efficient on offense. Actually, they were very good on offense. We are not. We do so little off the ball movement. It kills us.

Florida is up 7-5 at the under 16 timeout. Both teams are turnover machines early and we are extremely jumpy on offense. Lewis airballed a 3pter and Locke hit the side of the backboard from the top of the key. Ugly shots. Need to settle down some on offense
