Good win - lots to work on but I don’t think White’s late game philosophy is going to change. Seems religious among some coaches.

Glad to get out of the weekend with a "preseason" tourney championship. Lots to build on from what we saw the last three games. And for the love of god, keep running your offense, even if you're up by 17!

Ugly slows mulptiplenmulriole shot clock violations in the last 8 min...hang on and squeak out the win. Great great great game the first 32 min! Then stall ball failed miserably to score. Great win and Blackshear fi wished it with 2 rebounds and 3 FTs
I just hate the Muschamp version of basketball. It’s like White knows how to run the offense (first 32 minutes) but refuses to go full spurrier and stomp the throat (last 8 minutes).

Important win, good win. They went into a shell protecting the lead too soon and almost blew it. But overall the guys played tenacious defense and shot it really well except the last 5 minutes. Lewis's defense is there, but his offense will get better and Mann needs to get back on track. Surprising contribution from Glover the last 3 games. Payne didn't do much tonight, but Nembhard and Locke were really good and Blackshear/Johnson were consistent. Nice win. Now back to the gym and continue to get better.

Obviously a huge resume building win for our Gators. Not the Championship we want but we will take it early in the season here. We dominated Xavier for about 28 minutes of the game and then let the air out of the ball. I really wish White would stop doing that but you can see it coming every time. Blackshear huge again with 14 points and 10 rebounds, his 5th double double in 7 games as a Gator. That is pretty good and he has been amazing as advertised/predicted. Blackshear a total mismatch and he has taken advantage of it big time. Nemb and KJ with 15 huge points each. Locke hit three 3s on his way to 13 points and Ques was lightning quick with 9 points off the bench. We were able to shoot 54% for the game so that is encouraging for a 3rd game in a row. Go Gators!!

We had some trouble with their full court press down the stretch.

Defense held from up 11 at 7 min to up 10 at the under 4 even as our offense stalled.

They hit 2 3 point daggers toward the end that turned this into a game.

Nice win against a decent team. We’re shooting better and more consistently. I thought Glover stepped up despite some turnovers. I think he’s going to develop into a solid contributor.

This team has great potential but hasn't learned how to play a full game yet. Thank God we have time to iron out the wrinkles!

*** I don't care much for the late game coaching decisions! Ride the horse that got you here....!!!!!!

Living here in Charleston it was fun to see the Gators in town and picking up a championship not bad either.

lots of energy from both sides. Lots of Xavier fans. Little more than the Gators. But it was loud in the small gym.

This team is athletic and they showed that off during much of the game. Yes, they stopped running the offense for some reason late in game though part of it was a series of play stoppage for fouls and turnovers which killed the flow. Again, White coaches well until he stops coaching. He was up and about in the first half but not as much second half.

When they pressed the Gators you would have thought the Gators had not only never seen a press before but may have never contemplated that another team was allowed to do so. Then X hit some threes and made it tighter than it had to be. But in the end we were just a better team. They were fired up getting the trophy. Looked like they had fun.

some other thoughts

—-The defense this team plays when on is outstanding. Sparks the whole club because they use the athletic skills and speed to mess teams up.

—-Blackshear looked either out of it or amazing. No in between. He was calling for the ball way to far outside the lane.

—K Johnson was good last year but this year he is the most in control player we have. Smooth with hops and sees the court well. Deserved the MVP

—Scottie played like a freshman. Some athletic moves gave him a couple of blocks and shots, but was out of control or took bad shots thinking his athleticism would pull him though. Young man will be ballin by February

—Glover has been great surprise and now with KJ, Lock, Andrew and hoping Mann plays more, every guard is a legit scoring threat.

we are a top 12 team. Losses earlier were not excusable but winning this tournament will be a boost going forward.
Enjoyed those Gator Boys!

Every time the play not to lose slow it down crap doesn't lead to a loss we get "See? WHITE IS A GENIUS!" when it leads to defeat, as it does more often then not, we get "It's the players fault"

Terrible offense lose tournaments

Not running away with it a little at the end invites loss. Obviously, it's losing ... ground.

And for the love of god, keep running your offense, even if you're up by 17!

Right Sas. White, in taking the air out of the ball, just drains the enthusiasm from UF's souped-up hot-rods. Leaves all with nowhere to put their determination. It's White fleeing the pressure of the high expectations of dominating. Psychiatry refers to this as "approach-avoid". Thus, it is an ingrained response that is dictated by that habitual adjustment White used long ago to void fear-generating tension. It's gonna be up to these kids to re-install bravery into their Coach. (IDK?) If possible?

They were fired up getting the trophy. Looked like they had fun.

White should enlarge several photos of that trophy presentation and put it on the locker-room wall. Point to it often for their motivation-orientation.

Blackshear looked either out of it or amazing. No in between. He was calling for the ball way to far outside the lane.

Yep, Blackshear plus his teammates need to practice & practice taking the ball closer to the hoop. It's gotta be a "team-coached" factor. Blackshear and Payne already can get there, but their teammates aren't attuned to the dominating concept of getting the ball to them. Neglecting this = coaching failure.

1) White, as coach, needs to persistently inject combinations that will eliminate "end-game" sputtering.
2) Emphasize in film-study to players how they shot 54% FG for repeat performances. Don't let them start future games like they don't know what to do.
3) Early losses came from White's coward-style. The players we got now cannot succeed in playing that way. Time to play bravely, so it's time to coach bravely.
4) White has well coached them at defense.
5) We all should enjoy watching this team unless they backslide like so many of White's students have so often?

Give us 4-5 more games like this and I can sit back restfully for the remainder of the season. Winning creates belief.

Don't forget Johnson, he had a nice game.
