I'm encouraged by the fact that we played better in the second half, even with limited time with Blackshear and Johnson.

48 points in the 2nd half. If these guys can start putting two halves of basketball together it could start being fun to each.

not yet, though (Except Scotty Lewis defense, which is always fun to watch)

(1) 48 point 2nd half. Must begin playing consistent for full game.

(2) Glover provides a spark. Better than I anticipated.

(3) Lewis is elite defender.

(4) Final 4:36 did NOT slow the tempo. 8 possessions and only went to 8 seconds on the shot clock once. 18, 19, 15, 15, 12, 12, 11 and 8 seconds.

Lewis, Mann, Locke inconsistent on offense. Nembhard struggled a lot with his handle tonight.

First 8 games Keonte Johnson is our most consistent player.

Florida squeaks out with a win 73-67. Loved the offense the first 15 min of the second half. Faster, confident, attacking, inside out, etc. Horrible the other 25 min. Blackshear got a BS T for mumbling under his breath. We have 2 games in the next 18 days...White better figure this out asap! Push the ball!!!
No...get the F out of the way and let the horses out

MW continues to put games in jeopardy by disrupting the rythm of his players, and ignoring how much athletic talent he has to play fast. I wonder if he tows his bass boat with his Corvette.

4 assists vs. 14 turnovers. Zero assists at the half. This was a terrible performance against a bad team. Nembhard, Blackshear, Locke and Johnson were horrible. Lewis was a force on defense, but Glover is the only reason was close at halftime. The coach did not have this team ready to play and despite all the talent on this team, we are underachieving big time and have only played 2.5 good games out of 8 so far. There is too much dribbling with no purpose, little movement without the ball, too many forced/bad passes and too many times where we are out of position on defense. And that's all on the coaching. A win is a win, but without significant improvement we are heading for a lot more losses than we should have with this much talent.

That Bennett bulky guy should have been handled by Jitoboh for a stretch.?? Would have saved a coupla fouls on Blackshear allowing him to play aggressive longer. White should be training a big tall frontcourt for controlling our destiny ASAP. Scotty Lewis is a keeper on the floor. IMO Glover can be a floor general similar to Chiozza - direct the flow, set up player advantage matchups. ?? I do not like bounce passes when you're close to your target, esp when it's crowded inside.??

I like Lewis & Payne to be in for maximum minutes. Johnson & Blackshear too. Glover can be the court general. Work others in around those. Whoever is hot gets playing time. We need to have a minimum of 45% FG average. Keep 70% at the FT line. Lord, White is so useless and uninspirational. Sometimes I watch certain players' expression and those seem to be screaming: "Go with a play now. Strike now!" Whip the passes around so they are chasing a lag behind. Take it to the defense. Tangle up some legs. Crash the boards?? White obviously does not believe in crashing the boards. No, keep all players in confused positions, so nobody breaks for a back door worry.

They get stripped and make bad passes way too often. Bigs settle for lazy 3's, no motion off the ball and way too much 1 on 1 play. 4 assist and 14 turnovers is pathetic.

They don't at all act like a well-coached team.
Did you hear White's post-game talk? The sports pundit got into White to explain why these guys don't play organized, don't work for shots for themselves or for teammates? etc, etc. White with very weak voice said: "I don't know?" Millions of $ and he has no idea why his charges play like that? UF deserves a dynamic HC. Somebody that's not too weak and soft-spoken in practices. Somebody who yells like I do before the TV.

Golly gee, across the boards, everybody is digressing. They're not being taught to congregate around the basket. How did we luck out to get so many good athletes to come play for White? They need to call a team meeting to have an intervention on White.

Mike White basketball is really hard to watch. When we got a 13 point lead and Marshall called the TO, I knew we were gonna slow it down and ramp up the dumb turnovers, sloppy shots and shot clock violations. Win or lose, it's wash, rinse, repeat. How does MW not see this pattern? Everyone on GC sure does...

He owns a Vette and tries to use it like an F-350 pickup.

I’m not happy with where this team is either, but you only heard what you wanted to hear.

His “I don’t know” was the answer to “what will this team look like in a month at the start of AEC play?” Prior to the question, White has already said that the team needed to learn to play with more tempo, at a higher level offensively and defensively. And following his answer of, “I don’t know, exactly, White said, “I hope the ball is going I at a much higher rate (at one point the team was 0-10 from 3 pt range), we need to move the ball more, better role identification, passing into the post, hitting the dive guy on the pick and roll, and a lot off little things. We’ve got to learn how to utilize KJ, KJ has to learn how to play with Andrew, Andrew has to learn to play with the freshmen, the freshmen have teqen to play with Andrew, we’ve got to score more efficiently. We’ve got to do better in transition offense, better in half court offense, value the ball better. This team is too talented to have a 4-assist to 14 turnover ratio.”

White nailed what needs to be done. Love him or hate him, it is disingenuous to characterize his response as simply , “I don’t know”.

If White knows how to fix it, then how come we've had these same problems for the third f'in year in a row? He keeps turning over the roster, but the same problems persist. It isn't the players. He is like dwagchump. He has no clue how to fix this and his offense is just as painful to watch. It is early, but looking at their schedule, I have UF as a bubble team that misses the tourney.

I understood why white needed to play a slower, low scoring game last year. This year, White has his guys, but 6 of the 10 guys in the rotation have never played with each other before, so I don’t expect mid-season form at the beginning of the season.

if White can’t get it done this season, with all of the pieces finally in place,I’ll be on the fire White train as well. This team should at least get past the opening weekend of the big dance.

We all know what needs to be done.

But White is talking like how his players are flubbing but like it's not his responsibility to coach them to play this way, not that way?? White needs an attitude adjustment. White is responsible for coaching his players up to Big Dance StandardsBBall practices need to have some "coach-yelling". Adrenaline is a proven memory install, that's why battlefield trauma leaves such vivid memories for PTSD to afflict - burns it in. It's a biochemical process tied to self-preservation.

The turnovers were there for all to see. But I didn’t I didn’t really see the offense slow down particularly during the 8 possessions in the final 4:36 with a 63-52 lead.

We shot with between 11 and 19 seconds on the shot clock on all but the 8th possession which was at 8 seconds. We scored on 4 of the 8 possessions. (The 9th and final possession we were fouled and converted so scored on 5 of 9 possessions to end the game).

Seriously it would have been a mistake to shoot even earlier in the shot clock with a 11 point lead and 4 minutes to go.

The issue down the stretch was more defensive than offensive imo.

This offense will not take a big step forward until Lewis and Mann get comfortable at this level and until Locke gets his consistency back. When Lewis and Mann start finishing at the rim it is going to tremendously open up their games and their teammates.

I think it was at the under 8 min TO. We just took a 13 point lead. What followed was two sloppy dribbling turnovers and a last second desperation heave. Maybe I'm misreading it, but compared to the ball movement that got us the 13 pt lead, the dribbling appeared to lack purpose, just dribbling to take time off the clock. Shockingly, we took a few good shots soon after. Still, wvu had taken some momentum and were still in the game because we didn't stick with what was working.

A win's a win, but that was an ugly win all the way around. Glover, Bassett, and KJ were my MVPs.
Glover's been a pleasant surprise and has been playing aggressive and without fear for our last few games and has really made a difference on our team with Nembhard and Locke struggling at times.

Bassett showed he can come in and spell Blackshear without a huge drop-off. Also showed what crashing the boards does when you do it: at least 4 of his 6 points were on easy put-backs simply by being in the right position. Our other bigs need to take notice...
