Nebraska's 2019 season concluded on Black Friday with a 27-24 loss to Iowa. That capped a 5-7 season, Scott Frost's second straight losing campaign in Lincoln.

Perhaps Frost could be forgiven for the subpar 2019 outing, considering he still needs time to bring in his players and lay the foundation of a winning program (which worked in his previous stint at Central Florida). But Frost's comments after losing to Iowa — that he "inherited a team with weak confidence" — were less excusable.

They also sparked some criticism from former star quarterback Tommie Frazier, who tweeted his feelings on Scott on Saturday.

I will not comment on Nebraska football again until they make a bowl. It's obvious that people believe in someone that can't get it done. Those players played their asses off yesterday.

Frazier's isn't necessarily a damning comment for Frost, but it does sting a little extra knowing the two players were once teammates on Nebraska's 1995 championship team. Frazier led the Cornhuskers to the first two of Tom Osborne's three championships in the 1994-95 seasons; Frost quarterbacked his final title team in 1997.

It's unlikely this affects Frost's status as the Huskers' head coach heading into 2020. But one thing's for certain: Frost will be without the support of Frazier until the Huskers start seeing better results.

This is like if Tebow came out and said Butters couldn’t get it done. Over to you, Huskers fans.

Any chance Butters is having Xmas in Central Michigan wearing his NEB gear and winking intimately towards NEB's AD?

Bo Pelini may have been a major head case, but they have done nothing but get worse since his departure.

If Scott Frost can’t get it done in Nebraska then who can?

ESPN had a (rare) good article on this subject the other week asking if Nebraska is too far gone to be saved. Their last time they were nationally relevant was the 01 team that got beat by Miami in the national championship.

18 years ago and middling results ever since. Even further removed from their great title-winning teams.

This. Why are people speaking about Nebraska as if no one has had any success there in two decades. They may have a ceiling because of the current landscape, but they fired a guy who was winning 9 to 10 games per season. That was five years ago. The other programs in their division, with whom they have to compete, are in the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana. None of those places have any more built-in advantages than Nebraska, and they’re all in much better shape. This whole impossible job talk is a smokescreen for Frost, nothing else.

Nebraska has more talent than any other team in the Big10 West (which isn't saying much). He's got no excuse for not dominating his division.
