Well I don't know about pigeonholed. That was all Franks was capable of so that's all Franks threw. Even when the play was downfield, he'd dump it to the sidelines. Franks wasn't throwing a pass if there was a DB within 10 feet of the receiver.Sideways offense was mostly because of Franks being pigeonholed
To be fair, by the time Franks realized no one was within 10 feet of the receiver and he threw the ball, the db had already closed or he threw it 10 feet from the receiver...Well I don't know about pigeonholed. Hmmmmm.... is that right? Maybe I should go back and try to find it. Too bad bc I wanted to mute Jordan. You have it backward. Jordan said that in his conversation with Mullen, Mullen said it was Brian Johnson who said to Mullen stop trying to running the ball so much, let’s do what we do best & throw it.

You da man.Go to around 12:15 left in the 3rd quarter and listen until around 11:40 in the 3rd quarter. You’ll hear the lead up to his comment at around the 11:45 mark.
I get that - especially when I see a trick play to Ward midway into the third quarter. But no Perine at the GL was surprising and it just felt like an exhibition out there when I, personally, wanted blood.I think it was let seniors have their day.
They also called Johnson Co OC. I thought the co-operative coordinators were Billy Gonzales and Hev.
This seems really odd to me. It certainly looks like Mullins is on the headphones calling a plays.
Mehhh... we were toying with them.I get that - especially when I see a trick play to Ward midway into the third quarter. But no Perine at the GL was surprising and it just felt like an exhibition out there when I, personally, wanted blood.
This offense works because Trask is staying calm, mostly making great decisions and above all, he’s very accurate. His throws are not only catchable but usually in a spot the the receiver can make a move after the catch. This allows us to play in open space at a different level than we could with Franks or will with EJ.Don't think I've ever seen a coach abandon the run with such complete...abandon. Head coaches are a stubborn lot. What's more surprising is that it's working. The defense doesn't have to take away our run game, we already have. And yet, Dan the "sideways offense" coach is winning with the downfield passing game. I never subscribed to the notion that Dan was stuck in "sideways offense" mode. I knew he'd use the tools at hand and argued that point early and often. However, I am a little surprised that he totally stopped trying to run the ball. That takes a boatload of self-realization.
