People throw the word shambles alot but here is my top five in shambles programs.. I judge based on coaching uncertainty, fall from grace, expectations vs. reality, future prospects.

My quick look. Im sure there are other worthy candidates.

1. Florida State
2. Miami
3. UCLA
4. South Carolina
5. Texas

Nebraska and Tennesee are honorable mention . But they had ok finishes so they have some hope.

I don't know if I'm more confused about you listing South Carolina as a Top-5 program, or the fact that you think Nebraska had an ok finish. Midweek drinking was ok last week--even encouraged. But it's supposed to be back to normalcy today.

I get your point though. Hard to imagine some of those names being where they are.

This is going to sound nuts, but I think you have to inch Bama into that lineup. They can’t beat a decent team and their defense is horseshyt. I almost wish LSU could keep Brady a season longer to help push Saban into retirement.
I know due to Bowl tie in's that it's impossible but I think I'd like a piece of that on NYD as a measuring stick and possible recruiting boost...especially if in state....I'd bet a TV audience rating would be pretty damned good too...

I think you have the wrong USC. Trojans are experiencing their own lost decade.

This.

South Carolina is not expected to do much of anything in the eyes of anyone who truly knows college football. On the other hand, USC is one of the crown jewels of the sport, and they currently can't figure out if they've fired their coach, or not. There's some serious alumni losing their sh*t today.

Oh, and since we are talking football and not basketball, I'd definitely leave UCLA off any top 5 list, as well. Most of those students have never seen a football game, don't even know where the stadium is.

I'm giving you a like... but I'm going to need to ask you to stop pushing this ridiculous theory.

Texas and Southern Cal are two of the best jobs in the country. I don't mean right now, I mean in general. They might be the two BEST jobs in the country.

Both are in recruiting hotbeds and both have the pick of the litter in their territory. Both have lots of money and alumni support. Both have national followings. There's no academic or weather impediment for either school.

At UF you have to recruit against FSU and Miami in-state. Everybody in Texas dreams of playing for UT. They don't recruit. They select. You don't have to be a great recruiter at those schools. Kids will come. Just don't screw it up.

Both are in conferences they could (should) easily dominate. There's no excuse for Texas to be playing second fiddle to Oklahoma or for USCw to be losing to anybody in the PAC 12.

There are teams that used to be good but circumstances have changed (Syracuse, Nebraska) but that's not the case with Texas and USCe. It absolutely boggles the mind that both of those teams are struggling in shambles.

Yep. All of that... except the little "e". That letter is for the imposters in Columbia, with the mental midget head coach, who is still trying to define what a f*cking midline is.

This is a minor program, but this is a great example of what is wrong w/ the transfer portal era:

Coastal Carolina just moved to FBS, so they can play with 85 scholarships. They had several kids leave last year when there was a coaching change....and they just had 10 kids enter the transfer portal TODAY. This screams "SHAMBLES"!!

Do you really want many kids from the state of California. I wonder what the quality and zeal for high school football is currently. Matt Corall at Ole Miss may be an example of a downward trend.

I've heard they prefer to be called South Cal.

Yeah, but they play against other kids from Cali.
