Anyone would've been an upgrade. But, he has serious red flags. I have my doubts he will bring the clowns back to being contenders again. I could see him getting them to a consistent 9-3 to 8-4 records every year. Will that be enough to keep him around a while? Let's hope so.

I dunno. I agree he has red flags. Record wise, they don’t play anybody except Clemson and us. I don’t think 10-2 is a stretch, maybe not every year but often. One caveat is his defenses are non-existent. Unless he takes steps to correct that by hiring a quality DC, he could wind up mired in mediocrity.

It depends on how well he can recruit at FSU, I guess. Outside of Clemson, the ACC teams are pretty terrible. Anything in the top 15 keeps you at #2 in conference.

Serious red flags? Curious what you mean.

I think the only coach other than Norvell who could come in and make the defense even worse than it already was the last few years is Mike Leach.

They downplayed it a little in the movie but the Tuohy's are crazy wealthy. (In the movie they came across as just "rich.") They own something like 75-80 fast food franchises and Sean Tuohy is a longtime broadcaster for the Grizzlies. He was a helluva a B-ball player at Ole Miss and his son played D-1 ball (can't remember where).
A real team player would let the coach bang his wife.

I know Fever would let Butters tear it up.

Ole Sassy sure does love those solid defense guys who only lose 5 close games a year.

Ok boys you know what to do.

@NoleBiasBurge: If Bob Stoops isn’t named the next head coach of FSU, I will donate $1 for every retweet this gets to St.Jude’s Children hospital. But I expect everyone who retweets to donate $5 when he’s announced.

Serious red flags? Curious what you mean.

1. He isn't known as a good recruiter. It is a genuine worry. Add to that, he has no ties to the state.
*247 guys (Newberg, Nee, Sannone) said they did their homework on Norvell.

2. His defenses are atrocious. Is that because he can't get talent at a place like Memphis? Or, is it his philosophy like a Lincoln Riley or Mike Leach?

3. What is in his background that has scared others off?

4. He has never run a program the size of fsu. He'll be doing on the job training.

5. His teams are known for being undisciplined. Once again, this was a worry of Nee, Newberg, and Sannone.

Two of Mike Norvell's four seasons at Memphis have been 8-6 and 8-5.
Mike Leach career record: 55-46
Mike Gundy career record: 129-63, only 2 out of 15 seasons with fewer than 3 losses
Larry Fedora career record: 79-62

Norvell has won more games in a season at Memphis in school history twice, which includes this 11-1 year. Jury's out as to whether he'll be a great coach, but he's no slouch. Only a good coach can accomplish what he has done so far.

Do you put Leach because you are stupid enough to be under the influence of Crete? It makes sense. You like the same coaches and the same boring ass 1950s football.

I don't like any GD sideways ball Mummes.

@joshnewberg247: PJ Fleck was in Tallahassee today. Flew in this morning, along with two assistant coaches from his staff. They were in town for a few hours to see one of their cornerback commitments. Nothing to see here, sorry (VIP) Coaches on the Road: December 4th
