@PeteThamel: One thing that Florida State fans can expect from the Mike Norvell era -- lots of points. Memphis has finished Top 10 in scoring offense in each of the last three seasons. They've been pass-heavy, run-heavy and adapted seamlessly to varying personnel.
Lots of points...did he specify for or against?

I remember considering Norvell our "safety coach" in our last coaching search, and was relieved we didn't hire him. He's got a great offensive mind, but there are just so many red flags.

This isn't a Bob Stoops level hire, nor is it a Brian Kelly or James Franklin. It's not even a Mark Stoops or Campbell.

This search went as well for UF as we could realistically hope for.

The only thing that concerns me about Norvell is that he slightly resembles an aging Urban Meyer.

Norvell is in for a rude awakening, that's all I can say. He's now in the pressure cooker, with a team in complete shambles. Even that turd Haggins is bailing, I hear (he was going to get fired and escorted out by security anyway). Even more players are going to jump ship as a result of that. Haggins will go back to his usual place sleeping on the ground next to gas stations.

Will they even have enough players to field a starting team next year? They may have to play iron man football.

I don't remember norvell being a "safety coach," but he certainly wasn't Plan A. I remember him being a potential "diamond in the rough" (where have we heard that before?) who has a good offensive mind, but was considered a risky hire even without the rumored skeletons in the closet. He has a certain urbs vibe to him, but with less on his resume`.

He's an upgrade over willie and the clowns probably won't be an "automatic W" on our schedule. However, it's also likely he's in over his head, but looks just competent enough to survive 3-4 yrs before the clowns start another coaching search.

Biggest questions for the clowns-

-Can norvell extinguish the dumpster fire and rebuild a semi-major program?
-Can he handle the expectations in tally?
-Does norvell have any significant recruiting ties in FL?
-Are the rumored skeletons for real?
-Does the media chase the racial discrimination story because willie wasn't given the 10-year window we all thought he deserved?

All I know is that Norvell should have been a very hot commodity after the last two years, and yet he didn't even get a sniff from every damn program with an opening. There's a reason for that, and I want to know why.

Norvell has some real hurdles to overcome. First is the OLine. FSU has already tried to convert some DLine to OLine and at least one decided to enter the portal. It’s really beneficial to apply what we’ve already been thru.

They appear to be conceding this cycle, so no improvement on the OLine. Who will his OL coach be? Will OL ever be a priority? If he started today, he may get it fixed by the end of his 4 yr contract. This is the area that’s haunted us for so long and I think it’s going to haunt them too

He could succeed. I hope their patience runs out before he has a chance to show he can.

I remember the last time his name was being shopped. No one would touch him with a ten foot pole.
Exactly - he couldn't even get an INTERVIEW. 100 Oxbucks to the first person who finds out the truth and posts it here.

It’s also possible that Norvell’s offense isn’t as revolutionary as people make it out to be and schools with previous job openings weren’t desperate enough to take the risk. For fvvcks sake, Ole Miss’ top two candidates were Norvell and Kiffin! Scraping the bottom of the barrel
