Just watched Norvell's introductory presser. He seems to be fairly well-spoken and exuded the passion you'd expect from a guy getting his first big-time coaching gig. Sounds like Odell is staying on and that has to be for recruiting if nothing else, as that seems to be an unknown with Norvell right now. Not a stretch, but I'd think that the quality of the staff he assembles and how quickly he does it and gets them on the road will be a determiner of how quickly he succeeds or doesn't. He identified evaluating and selecting assistants as a strength. I can see why he would be likable (@'78), but I also get the sense that he knows he's just jumped into much bigger pond. He seemed to spend more time on the "thanks for the opportunity" and "you all believed in me" moments than going over the framework of what he's got to do to get things back on track. Understandable I suppose and he's quite polite, but if he's got a ruthless side, it better be in his holster, cocked and locked. He'll need it in this state and at this level. Overall impression is that they could've done a lot worse. They'll be interesting to keep an eye on from now through spring ball.

Great post. I thought it was a decent hire as well. IMHO, it's a huge unknown but I feel like they just upgraded for sure. We'll see.

Article on football scoop talks about Novell putting a lot of emphasis on special teams. In his time at Memphis, they led the nation in w/ 11 KO returns for TD's (over 4 years). I wish UF would put more emphasis on ST's (and there's another valid reason to get rid of Knox)....

Urban was a great coach, and a large component of his greatness were his special teams squads over the years. Those squads were difference makers in many games at each of his stops as a head coach. Dan needs to figure this out and stop wasting such a significant piece of the overall team. If special teams could start taking the ball away and putting points on the board (or at least contribute to those points) in big games, it could get us those 1 or 2 extra wins that we need to get back into the championship picture.

I know. It’s enough to turn you off on women, period.

Just a guess, but you’ll come around eventually. It’s amazing how the eyes evolve as we age. Of course, if you keep buying out-of-warranty Beemers with bad transmissions, you may lose some of that wealth leverage that allows one to age while freezing the age of the opposite sex at that tender young, tight number.

My eyes stopped aging at 50. Hell they probably stopped at 25.

(Anybody want to buy a Beamer that needs some “work”).

Thanks Rex. I get the feeling that we were all reveling in F$U's woes and didn't think they'd get anyone of any significance. We watched the President's and AD's hiring process like these guys...

We all hoped their misery would go on forever, and there may still be more to come, but I think they obviously did better than Taggart (for whatever that may be worth).

I watched the introductory Mike Norvell press conference. Passionate guy. He said he was going to build the Seminole program based on discipline and structure. Obviously he's a newcomer to Tallahassee.

Norvell will most likely win a fair number of ACC games, but he's the type of dude that would get slaughtered in playoff games or against UF for that matter.

Their last OC was the same. He had never actually called plays himself.

This is a trap game. UVA boat raced USCe last year. They are pointed toward this game -- we are not.
I heard we werent actually losing to USCjr until well into the 4th quarter.

Apparently we are actually undefeated Climpson with an explosive 60th ranked offense and Ive been watching the wrong channels all year

Once again, for someone who dwells and whines about "moral victories" all the time, you spend a sh*t ton of time crying in your Wheaties about actual victories. Just get it over with and castrate yourself, it's not like you're using whatever balls you have anyway.
