Doesn’t everything go good with bacon?

I generally agree. If we really want to get to a million, someone can ask what is the best way to cook bacon.

We have finally perfected it in the air fryer. Took a few tries. But now it is perfect, can cook a whole pack at one time, needs zero attention, and basically zero cleanup. win, win, win, win

For steel cut oats, simply cook them in the crockpot overnight. With some milk, and a little maple syrup, cinnamon and brown sugar. You'll wake up starving after smelling that all night.

For grits, boil them in 100% chicken stock. Then mix in some fresh grated sharp cheddar in the end. Goes good with bacon.

You're welcome.
It's your swamp cabbage recipe that everyone wants.

So this "swamp cabbage" is actually a real thing?

Maybe just the way this thread was trending, but when it was first mentioned, I just assumed it was a MattM creation, involving sweat pants, a baster and an entire day at a Disney park.

Oh, yes. It's a traditional South Florida dish whose main ingredient is the heart of a palm tree. When he moved to Florida and first tasted it, my Father described the taste as stewed dish rags. It is the flavoring, which varies greatly with the individual cooks, which make it palatable and even tasty. It is a soup, or stew, often flavored with bacon or even fat back. The hardy folk who settled and made the State you Interlopers enjoy prized it greatly. I have seen it brought to the aged and ailing and accepted as the ultimate expression of love. Going into the swamp and cutting the palms and extracting the hearts is a man's work. On a slightly different note, the old Cedar Key Hotel used to serve a nice heart of palm salad.

Swap the sharp cheddar for white cheddar and you’re in business.

My wife LOVES swamp cabbage. I like it fine. It’s getting harder to find, but it’s a real thing.

Believe it or not, one of the best hearts of palm salads I've ever had was at the Crystal Palace at Disney. Actually requested (and received) the recipe.

Hence the name "Cabbage Palm?"
