So the SEC suspended the thug for the next Bama game against Kentucky. We get a foul against us for Bama’s flagrant(and a potential 3-point swing in a close game), KY gets the benefit of the suspension against Bama. SEC officiating at its finest.
I’d split the blame for this loss equally between coaching and poor execution. Fumbling a sure laying or dunk, misses and putbacks missed at point blank range, unforced turnovers, and 3-point shooters losing their confidence to take wide open shots are not coaching issues, but execution issues...
Florida loses by 19, 85-66. Knecht finishes with 39 points and gets pulled after launching a couple of wild prayers to try to break 40. One bright spot for the Gators is going 21/25 at the FT line for 84%. Not enough to cover the sub 30% FG shooting when TN shot over 50% from the floor.
Gators down by 21 at the under 4 timeout. Not even making 8 foot jump shots from the middle of the lane. Nothing is easy tonight. Knecht with a career tying 37 points. Announcers trying to will him over 40
Golden takes a timeout after Knecht knocks down a 3 pointer at the 9:10 mark to put the Vols ahead 70-51. Gators have gotten a few offensive rebounds but haven’t been able to convert point-blank putbacks into points.
Florida trims the lead to 12 (was 10) after some sloppy turnovers by TN and some good drives in the paint by the Gators. TN leads 63-51 at the under 12 timeout
If TN plays like Florida usually does, and Florida plays like TN usually does, then we might win, unless it comes down to coaching decisions in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Tennessee showed the blueprint for beating Ole Miss, and it was by playing solid defense with physicality. Florida apparently didn’t bother watching that film doing their best Ron Zook impersonation.
