The No. 15-ranked Gators, in Muschamp’s first season, rode into Lexington undefeated and having allowed only 26 points to date, most of them the week before in a three-point win over Tennessee.
UF used a pair of turnovers to go up 21-0 after Chris Rainey (2:54) ran it in from the 27 on a John Brantley pitch that took him from pinned in at the left sideline to sprinting down the right sideline for the score.
That was one talented defense Meyer left behind for Muschamp.
The following week, in the sold-out Swamp, in a game that was way over-hyped, UF laid a big egg against No. 3 Alabama, losing 38-10. That was the launch of a four-game losing streak that effectively ended hopes for a good 2011.
