I put those toilets that can flush a bucket of golf balls in my house... they work pretty good.

3 months ago my wife called me and said and I quote, "Ok hunny, I have something to tell you that you aren't going to like, so please don't be mad at me ok?"

I say: "ehhh, what exactly did you do?"

She says: "Well I accidently dropped a large tube of toothpaste into the toilet."

I say: "That's no big deal, just suck it up, reach down into the bowl and get it out."

She says: "Well, that's the part you aren't going to like. I was flushing the toilet when I dropped the tube."

At this point I'm thinking, "What the hell were you doing with a tube of toothpaste while hovering over the toilet anyway?" but I let the thought go for the time being.

I say: "Are you freaking serious? Is the toilet stopped up? Is it overflowing? Did the tube get stuck where you might could reach down there and maybe grab it?"

She says: "I already tried hunny, its gone. The toilet is not overflowing or anything, and it flushed."

I say: "Well hell, don't do anything else, and don't flush it again. I'll come home and see what I can do."

Later I get home, grab the long springy thing that you stick down in there to unclog the drain and go into the bathroom. Toilet looks fine, so I figure I might as well see what happens before starting. I flush it and it flushes normally and refills with no issue. Frankly I was shocked. The thing swallowed a full tube of Colgate without even a hiccup. I lingered for about 15 minutes, then came back into the living room, found my wife. Told her it was a pain in the ass to fix, but I took care of it and to be more careful in the future.

    :lol2:

Nah. It's the guest room bath.

I expected to see the Gatorchatter logo in the tile, leaves disappointed.

so youre trusting the existing pan? Nothing wrong with an overlay assuming the existing tile has a good bond to the substrate as long as you are using a fortified thinset like Versabond.... I would be cautious with using an existing pan.

I'd just rip the crap out and put in new dry wall. It's not that much work honestly.

Ok, Ox. I texted my wife and below is what I got back in response.

First let me say that she had some tearing and stuff when we had our son and this cream she mentions was something the dr gave her to aid in the healing process. I do remember her saying it was toothpaste though.

Second, if we ever meet up and anybody brings this situation up I'll freaking kick you in the ballsack :)

My wife wanted a new chair height toilet at our country house and I told her that I wasn't getting another one of those smooth sided one. But honey, they look so nice.....she said. NO I said.

footnote: After 46 years of marriage, her pet name for me is no longer Honey.....................and I don't think it's a very nice name. :bwahaha:

I just completed a total remodel in one of the baths upstairs at my girlfriends house. Nice home, built in the mid 60s, old and tired I've already finished painting the outside, inside, remodeled one of the other two baths, and remodeled the kitchen. Since finishing the bath in June, we are now re-carpeting and I just finished redoing the stairs. The bath originally had tile floors, tile shower, toilet, and wall hung lavatory that had not been in use for years. All three fixtures leaked and had previously caused damage to a bathroom ceiling on the 1st floor. The bathroom served what was originally the master bedroom and had a dressing room in the center and a walk-in closet on the other side of the dressing room, all three rooms were about 6'x7' each.

I decided to incorporate the dressing room into the bathroom and add a whirlpool tub in this area. Demo included all fixtures, tile, drywall, shower and removed the wall that separated the bath from the dressing room and relocated the door to the new bath and the door to the walk in closet. As part of the new design, I moved the old lavatory drain, water supply, light fixture, and relocated them to the adjacent wall across fron the shower with a new gfci outlet and all switches relocated into a 3 gang box. I also added a gfci outlet next to the new toilet for a future hot water bidet seat. I added a ceiling mounted bath fan above the toilet which is the new smoothside American Standard that will flush a bag of golf balls quite nicely. To accomodate the whirlpool tub, I cut out the cast iron quarterbend that connected the shower trap to the drain and added a wye to provide new drainage. Since I had to add two circuits to handle the tub pump motor and auxillary heater, I had to upgrade the service panel located in the garage This is the only work I went outside for in that I have a friend that is a master electrician. He did the 200 amp panel upgrade and the two circuits for $500 including all parts. The circuit run was 65 feet. This would normally be in the range of $1800.

The original shower was a 36"x 36" square tile pan and walls with obscure glass enclosure. I replaced this with a new 1/4 round shower and curved glass walls. I installed 18x18 floor tile and 9x12 tub and shower wall tile and built in a 3 shelf shampoo niche.
