I just drove 8 hours from Greenville, SC to Ocala and am now decompressing with some Bulleit bourbon. I drove the backroads instead of I-95. It took an hour longer but it was much less stressful than swapping paint at 80 MPH

Alcoholica is right on the money with this statement. I mentioned this once in the wine thread, but I once had a conversation with well-known wine critic Robert Parker and I have never forgotten a piece of advice he gave me: Trust your own taste. If you like it, it's good. Don't worry about what someone else thinks about it. Above I read how @G8trwood is not impressed with Angel's Envy. I have heard that from others as well, but I happen to like it as do others I know. I regularly drink Larceny which I think is a great value for the money. I have no doubt others on here will think it's crud. I also find I like things differently at different times. Years ago, my in laws gave me a bottle of Glenlivet Archive, a 21 year old single malt. I have always enjoyed single malt scotch and this one was exceptional. I drink it sparingly and still have half a bottle left. I had a glass the other night and for whatever reason, it did not seem all that good. Que Sera, sera.

I scored a bottle of JW Dant and JTS Brown, two Kentucky “only” bottles on my trip to Louisville. For $12 the Dant punches way above its price! IMG_4750.JPG

I opened up a bottle of Stagg Jr batch 11 last night. WOW! It is extraordinary. Cherries, a bit of vanilla, a bit of black pepper and smooth as hell for 127.9 proof. If you see a bottle anywhere, grab it.

I am enjoying a dram of 10 year old Talisker single malt scotch this evening to unwind after driving from Ocala to Greenville SC today. Smoky and peaty, one of my favorites. Very nice, very satisfying, very relaxing.

I hate to put this out there for fear I won't be able to find any in the near future....

If you get a chance, pick up a bottle of Wilderness Trail Wheated Bourbon. Bottled in Bond, Single Barrel. Its about 45.00 and worth every dang penny as far as I'm concerned. This stuff may have displaced Angel's Envy from the top spot in my drink list. Maybe. It will be a tough fight either way.

I hear their Rye and Small Batch bourbon (non wheated) is just as good or better. I'm sticking with the single barrel wheat. To quote Ron Simmons....Damn....

Well, the list is what I consider good/bad values, not necessarily great bourbons or bad bourbons. If someone cracks open a Blanton’s and says drink however much you like, i’ll say thank you very much. But at $60, there are bourbons that I feel are vastly superior. Let alone at the $100+ people are selling for. So it’s just a value that i’m placing on it.

There is a saying that the best bourbon is the one you’re drinking, the way you like it. I would encourage you to try the best value list, because you may find something cheap that you really like. I’d also encourage you to revisit bourbons. You never know when your palate was off, or the bottle was too low and too old.

There are plenty who agree and disagree with my choices. But check them out and let us know yours.

This is easily one of the best craft vodkas around and can't beat the price (usually $15-20 at most FL liquor stores).

Made in St Pete from FL spring water and corn, with a sweet aftertaste. Drinking now to celebrate the Tampa Bay Lighting Stanley Cup victory (also had post-Gator victory this Saturday).

                                          Highly recommended.

We pride ourselves on offering Gator-biased, yet critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. We are working every day to make sure our community is the best Gator message board you will find.
