Law is gonna lose his fuching mind
it's a double-edged sword. we have to pay well enough to not be viewed as the ghetto school of the SEC anymore.

this won't change anything. the coaching problems are self-correcting.

the administration problem, not so much.

Greg Knox gets a $45K raise. smh - he's now up to $495K. He ain't goin' anywhere! In fact, most of these coaches aren't going anywhere. The only coaches who could/would possibly leave are Gray, Robinson & Johnson. This is probably Brewster's last stop before he hangs it up. Grantham isn't leaving unless he gets an NFL DC job, which is unlikely. I doubt any of the others would get better offers.

Robinson got the biggest bump, $175K, to $300K.

Johnson got $125K - to $550k.

$550,000 (2021) - OC/QB Brian Johnson
$495,000 (2021) - ST/RB Greg Knox
$630,000 (2021) - PGC/WR Billy Gonzalez
$495,000 (2021) - AHC/TE Tim Brewster
$630,000 (2021) - RGC/OL John Hevesy
$1.8 million (2021) - DC/OLB Todd Grantham
$475,000 (2021) - DL David Turner
$300,000 (2021) - ILB Christian Robinson
$460,000 (2021) - CB Torrian Gray
$450,000 (2020) - S Ron English

Trying to break down Knox’s pay scale and performance bonus structure. Looks like 200k for not hitting the snooze more than twice and just showing up to work. 100k for each 5* RB he lands in recruiting(0, $0), 50k for each blocked punt(0, $0), and 5k for each fair catch(59, $295k).

I could see that happening, but it will be a matter of money. He left VT for UF the first time over money (they offered to keep him on Fuentes staff, but w/ a $15K paycut). He was actually fired/pushed out w/ the redskins. He's from Florida and is making about $150K more than his first stop here. I could see him leaving for a DC job, but I think he's here for a while. I'd prefer to see English leave (for whatever reason) and have Gray handle the entire secondary, giving us a chance to hire another assistant (maybe OT/TE's? or let Knox handle ST's and hire a RB coach who can actually recruit).

At some point the players who aren't sure fire 1st-4th round draft picks are going to figure out it's better in the long term to be an assistant or coach than to risk playing a few years in the NFL.

Well, these salaries are limited to P5 schools and there's only so many openings. Greg Knox is holding up some young, talented up-and-comer for sure from getting a high paying spot. The head coach at most 1AA programs don't make what our lowest paid coach makes. I read a few years back, Everette Withers left Ohio State where he was making almost $600K to take over at James Madison for $325K - and JMU is one of the highest paying 1AA programs. He wanted to be a head coach and that was his best route (he stayed for 2 years, they won the 1AA playoff the following year. He went to a sh*tty job at Texas State after JMU and got fired a few years later). Now he's an analyst at Texas. Had he stayed at Ohio State he'd probably be making $800K by now. Imagine what the DB coach at Bethune-Cookman is making, $50K?

Mullinz and McElstain are the type of coaches that are going to pay their friends regardless of incompetence.

is anyone really surprised?
