I hope that strategy fails and he collects a lot of grief for trying it, but we know that won't happen.

Spurrier signed blue chip kids all day long.

I don't know where this fantasy came from that SOS didn't land talented kids. Some of you are insane. We sent recruits to Army AA game, had most of our kids on the HS allstar game they used to have.

What he did do was stayed in state mostly. He liked the kids who played against the best competition. We had several flops from the out of state "#1 QB in the nation" types (Sabelhaus and Olmstead, a WR named Shipp).

Yep Spurrier recruited pretty good and we always had players all over the All-SEC teams every year. FSU was recruiting lights out then and Miami was at the end of their great run his first few years here where they were keeping a lot of the top talent down there. Florida's top talent didn't seem to get raided by out of state teams as much back then either like it does now.
