Wouldn’t matter with Summerall. He needs a year in the program to gain weight anyway
might change the number of scholarships available that count back if he's not an early enrollee. we don't seem to need those much though since the 85 limit seems to be squeezing us more than anything else.

Well the guy for 247 that is most influential in SE rankings is Chad Simmons that runs the uga site so...there’s that
yeah people try to say that 247 is the old rivals and while it's true that they bought the company the staff has changed radically. many if not most of the old rivals guys are back with rivals now.

while I don't believe that Georgia is really landing the best classes ever, and that bias accounts for part of the ratings, there is no doubt that the elite players in Florida are choosing to go elsewhere, including Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State and others, in a way that's never happened (before Butters). we have to stop that.

That says it all. Need to be in top 3 of the SEC and/or have a great QB.
In the article, he references this:
2018 College Football Team Talent Composite

That is pretty ugly for us and it isnt changing quickly. I was aware the gap between us and the elite.teams was wide but this quantifies it a great deal better.

In the end:
But this chart represents over 1,900 games and so suggests that once your team ranks below third, it faces an uphill battle to win a conference or get to the playoff.

Not really news though. We know we are behind the 8-ball. Now we might get UGAy once in a while because despite the talent gap the coaching is... well still Richtonian.
But getting over the ‘bama hurdle (and to the playoffs) is not happening anytime soon.

LSU is killing it recruiting yet we beat them...

We had a nice showing at both HS Allstar Games...

2020 is looking good.

So why again is the sky falling?

Dont think anyone is saying the sky is falling ... think they are just discussing the obvious facts at how far behind in talent we are behind Bama and UGA.

The sky isn't falling... it really is just mehhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

We are mantaining our talent gap over the Kintucky and Mizzus of the world and the Trailerbammer, Ugly, Clemson and Ohio States of the world are mantaining their talent gap over us, while LSU, and aTm are moving to the top.

Interesting, under Butters we dropped from 15th to 16th and 17th. Under Mullen, we rose to 12. I'll be interested to see where we rank in 2019. It feels like we're trending up in talent, just not as quickly as we'd like.

Well, Kentucky and Mizzou beat us, maybe we can beat Bama and UGA.

It will rise after this class too, which hasn’t been calculated in the talent composite yet (obviously). Mac signed 27 3 stars his last two classes, Mullen only 15 and one was a transition class. Mac signed 20 4 stars in his two full seasons, and Mullen has signed 28 and it’s not even finished yet. We still have 5 spots left.

Mac only signed 22 4 stars in all 3 of his classes. Jesus h Christ that guy sucked

Remember when people were saying it didn't matter bc he was the 3 Star Whisperer?
He found some great ones in Jawaan Taylor, Zuniga, Polite, Perine, some decent ones in Buchanan (unranked), Brett Heggie, Reese, vosean, Malik Davis, Toney, Shawn Davis, but that’s it. He signed 44 3 stars in 3 years and a handful were any good. Basically a 1/4th success rate. Mac should be shot for his crimes here.

To be fair, Perine and M. Davis were 4*s and Heggie was a UA All-American. But notice how many of the 3* successes were Florida kids.

Buchanan? Uhhhhh...no. He has a pulse... I guess.

Malik Davis wasn't a 3 star. Malik Davis, 2017 Running Back - Rivals.com
deleted Big David Reese
Nor was Perine Lamical Perine, 2016 Running Back - Rivals.com
You'd know these things if you weren't wedded to a shytty recruiting service.

Taylor was a 3 star, but he was a kid that several people figured out later in the game. Ditto with Polite and Heggie. They were real SEC players that other SEC teams wanted. These guys werent the problem.

Big David Reese was a Meatchikn commit. Not a Sunbelter.
