Two Years ago UWF won the D2 National championship... Been playin football 5 years, participatrd in D2 playoffs 3 times...

The head coach that did all that just left for a bigger job. They went to the D2 championship this year too (lost to Ferris State), then he got a better offer.

Time will tell.

Between 4th and 5th in the SEC.

It was a well rounded class. Between recruiting and the portal I think the staff filled all the needs. A few potential dominate players and groups. Really like the OL and DL.

I don't think this is a championship type of class but it's a solid foundation class.



I'm still hoping to hear about some staff and/or approach changes (Special Teams, Defense, Clock Mgmt).

Do the recruiting services count the PWOs? I would think only the scholarship players mattered.

Only signing 20 players hurt our ranking. According to rivals, our star average is third, so this isn't a bad class by any means. Now I'm not saying that this is really a top 3 class, but this class does have top 10 worthy quality.

This. I would say star average is the best indicator of a class, given you sign more than 15. It indicates how the staff is evaluating and going after quality players. With the Transfer Portal, it seems positions of need can always be filled with enough NIL money.

This is true only to some extent. Having more than 20 commits only allows a team to not count it's lower ranked recruits in the overall rankings.

Rivals only counts the Top 20 for each team using this formula:
(Rivals Rating points for a team's Top 20 rated commits + Rivals250 Bonus Points = Total Points)

Rivals Rating = Points
6.1 = 150 points
6.0 = 135 points
5.9 = 120 points
5.8 = 105 points
5.7 = 90 points
5.6 = 75 points
5.5 = 60 points
5.4 = 45 points
5.3 = 30 points
5.2 = 15 points

To their credit, the staff seems to agree and is making LB a priority in the ‘24 class. Can’t argue about the results so far.

Not sure about the Houston transfer, but any 4th stringer from posu is likely to be an upgrade compared to 90% or more of the 210 lb granthum specials.
