I doubt they flip because they already signed

Exactly. Donovan learned on the job at UF and hopefully White will too. Heck I think some of his switches to zone against UWVa were good coaching adjustments he might not have made a year or so back. Like Donovan hired Shyatt as a defensive specialist assistant, perhaps White will find someone similar to help him on offense.

Yeah Tenn beat Gonzaga just like we BEAT Gonzaga last year. How quickly we forget that and the ELITE 8 predicated by White turning the program around very quickly when it needed new direction after Billy D left. 3 20 win seasons and 2 NCAA tourneys so just about right how we need to be as a program. Top 5 recruiting class SIGNED and coming in next season ALONG with the 3 hot prospects we have as freshman learning this year. White still learning on the job like someone else said. No he is not perfect and neither is any other coach. When we start having losing season and recruiting classes in the 20s and 30s then we can jump off the cliff. Not yet though Gators. Always funny to see the tone and WHO posts in the game threads in the wins vs losses. Not much said positive when we win and then it sounds like we haven't won a game in years in the losses. Stay off the ledge my friends. Go Gators!!

And we lost to Gonzaga the year before. Pick and choose much?

The team White & crew was to put on the court this year had a scaffold of experienced players - scorers = Hudson & Allen. The supporting cast of Stone, Johnson, Bassett, Hayes, Ballard, Okauru should allow for a stable team of performers. Added came a few superfine freshman: Nembhard, K Johnson, Locke. This team lacks the know-how to face teams that stability in the playing of this group.

However, the hope is that Nembhart's multiple assists will train Hayes & Stokes into being smooth big men inside.

One last comment and then I will shut up. When Fooley hired Billy we were a wannabe basketball school with a lame arena and nothing to sell to a coach but an opportunity. Consequently Fooley went for an up and coming young coach and he nailed it. What logic did Fooley apply to think that he should duplicate his search when everything was different? We were a top 10 - 15 program with gobs of wins and banners hanging with a state of the art facility on the way. Why in he!! Did Fooley hire the same profile when he could have pursued an established winner? I guess he was so comfortable shopping at Kmart he didn’t know where else to go. Here we are waiting for a young coach to “learn on the fly” when we really didn’t need to go through the ramp up again. Will we ever get to the point where we are willing to pay for excellence?

Who exactly were we gonna "pay for excellence"? White wasn't 1st on my list but they were all up and comers. I would have that than someone who'd already been fired.

If a guy makes two final fours and wins one Championship while coaching UF basketball for ten years, he’s a huge success in my book. White will not disappoint. His new players are incredible and his recruits are even better next year. Inside help will be here someday. Dead weight will graduate. Haters will suck it. Gators will rise.

I don’t know who we could have gotten because the coaches with good jobs conduct their candidacy covertly for obvious reasons. I am sure there were strong coaches out there but we seemed determined to duplicate the previous approach. I know that White was considered a top candidate in the up and coming category but I wonder how much of that was legitimate versus all the people with Duke connections (I am talking about you Jay Bilas) that were pimping him to anyone that would listen due to his father. As a season ticket holder for nearly 40 years I hope White is successful as much as anyone I am frustrated by how he seems to have lost all the momentum in the program that he inherited. As I see nothing programs in the conference like Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee hire name coaches whose teams have blown right past us, I cannot help but question the decision from Fooley. Hopefully he can turn this around soon. He’s got a couple of years after this one before the seat gets warm so there’s still plenty of time.

Questioning the team and the coaches performance doesn’t make one a hater. It usually involves someone who cares about the program and wants what is best. Calling people haters when they merely disagree with you is one of our biggest problems in this country today

A hater is anyone who doesn’t believe in your ability to succeed. For example, Jalen Hudson has a lot of haters right now. If he opens SEC play the same as now, you can count me among “the haters.” If Hudson turns his season around, he gets to shush the haters. This is how the game is played, player. If Mike White succeeds at UF, you’re a donkey jackass for not believing in him.

Nonsense. We could've had Archie Miller if Foley was serious. He went cheap. Instead Miller went to Indiana.

:drunk:

Who's going to land the bigs and teach white how to have an offense? All of the "dead" weight are guys he brought in. He constantly gets outcoached and he rarely adjusts. The SEC is getting harder and he's an average at best coach. We're not winning titles with him here unless it's the NIT.

IF IF IF. All the evidence is showing he'll maybe make the tournament but he's no threat to win it. 2016 was a fluke

Or that the seniors will meet our expectations combined with growth in the youth.

I love the run and gun style that Mike White plays. All those high scoring games last few years are the resson we have landed so many awesome recruits. We’re just misssing the bigs necessary to run the pick and rolls and all the other half court offense you guys are clamoring for. It’ll come together eventually or MW will be shown the door. MW is one of the best young coaches around. And If Billy D could recruit like Mike White, he’d still be here competing for final fours. You morons just don’t know roundball from Ben waa balls.

He’s in year 4, how many does he need to “develop” a big man?

ALas, if only we weren’t so cheap...we could hire Big time Calimari and instantly all the unstoppable 6’10” and above players would flock to Gainesville. You guys are fooling yourselves.

Mike White has the best back to back class Ever signed at UF. Heck, he’s got more five stars signed than Mullen. Name the time Billy D signed three five stars in a two year period? Now back the fuvvvk off and give him time to develop them. He’ll win plenty, ya turds.
