Something wrong with this plane? Hundreds have been delivered. Problems have been identified and two fatal incidents. Does Boeing have a problem on its hands?

I hope not. Very well could. Not sure how to keep people who should not be making decisions from making decisions.

What “problems”, besides the crash itself, were identified?

Faulty air speed indicator was the problem in the previous crash...
I think they're still investigating what happened yesterday.

Not a good look for Boeing. A lot different than ...say... an airbag recall.

The size of this lawsuit will be unimagineable.

I flew in a Max 8 a month ago. It was SWA and I raved about it to @Zambo . So far it sounds like the 2 crashes were very similar. I’m no pilot but Boeing is stating something could have been turned off but these pilots were not aware?

I bet you if a domestic flight had crashed on US soil, they’d ground them all for sure.

They already have the CVR and the FDR so I imagine we’ll know soon enough what happened. I think we’ve flown over 41,000 flights at SWA alone with the Max aircraft.

Ethiopian plane smoked and shuddered before deadly plunge | Reuters

The Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed killing 157 people was making a strange rattling noise and trailed smoke and debris as it swerved above a field of panicked cows before hitting earth, according to witnesses.

Half a dozen witnesses interviewed by Reuters in the farmland where the plane came down reported smoke billowing out behind, while four of them also described a loud sound.

“It was a loud rattling sound. Like straining and shaking metal,” said Turn Buzuna, a 26-year-old housewife and farmer who lives about 300 meters (328 yards) from the crash site.

Malka Galato, 47, a barley and wheat farmer whose field the plane crashed in, also described smoke and sparks from the back. “The plane was very close to the ground and it made a turn... Cows that were grazing in the fields ran in panic,” he said.
      ---------------------

That wouldn't point to the same exact thing I would think if the witnesses are correct. That would describe mechanical issues I would think more than just fighting the computer mess.

Finally something I agree with Trump about. Im flying to Texas next week on Southwest and glad the planes hot grounded. I heard frpm a pilot friend that when the plane starts getting wonky, to turn off autopilot. 2 buttons taking 2 seconds.

Ya wanna know what's really scary about the Ethiopian crash? That the First Officer had a whopping 200 hours of pilot time. Basically a student that shouldn't be allowed to fly even 3 people around for money, much less 160 people. You can't even get the license required to APPLY for that job in the states without 1500 hours, and with that the only place that's going to hire you is a tiny puddle jumper outfit.

Zambo, do you think the worldwide grounding of this aircraft is an overreaction?
